We were the El Molino Lions. Our rivals were the Analy Tigers and during Homecoming week some idiot from our school would go over there and rip the “Y” off of their sign. Yeah, real creative guys. :rolleyes: Normally I wouldn’t really care, but the whole student body would get punished for this, and it really pissed me off becuase I never did anything. I was a good little girl.😃 ---

The Belmont High Marauders, that was my high school’s mascot. Some guy would wear the BHS football uniform and wear a giant pirate head on top of it. Our female teams were the “Lady Marauders”. I was part of a group of students, who as a joke, started a petition to rename the team to the “Cane Toads”, after the cult film fav. out of Australia, but nobody really got the joke. Additionally, in our league of eight teams, we had two teams named the “Red Raiders”. I have yet to find the mathematical proof that states that there are no more than seven existing team names in the universe, but maybe I’m just not looking hard enough. Lexington High has the “Minutemen” for their male teams – and the “Minute Maids” for their female teams. \I am not making this up\ ---

The **Crusaders**. Who, I’d like to point out, _lost_. Which probably explains a lot about the football team :rolleyes: Girls’ teams were the **Lady Crusaders** 😕 ---

Wildcats. The El Dorado Wildcats. My senior year, our homecoming theme was Cat Scratch Fever and it was played over and over and over… Amazing the sheer number of people that had never really listened to that song. ---

We were the Newport Harbor Sailors, or Tars for short (has to do with sailors tarring their ponytails back in the day, whatever). Newport Beach has a big sailing contingent, so… We had a cool sailor guy as our mascot. I’m trying to remember what our crosstown rival HS had as their mascot, I think it was similar. Corona del Mar HS, anyone? ---

These were the Independence, Ohio, Blue Devils. About two miles due south of Cleveland on Route 21, and now Interstate 77. (Hence the Ghoulardi reference) Doesn’t Duke University have a blue devil as a mascot, too? Or am I thinking of some other southern college? ---

We were (North Farmington H.S. in Michigan) the Raiders. Our mascot was a guy who dressed up in a costume that looked vaguely like the Hamburgler and ran around waving a plastic sabre over his head. In college, I knew a guy from Ohio who’s H.S. mascot was the Eddies - as in a swirling pool of water. That’s the lamest mascot I think I’ve seen. ---

I was a Bowsher **Rebel** Our mascot was (duh) a little confederate soldier on a broken-down horse. Predictably, there was a big brouhaha my sophmore year over the whole unPC aspect of the name. End result, we kept the moniker and mascot, but lost the flag. ::Sigh:: We, too, had the stupid _Lady Rebels_ label for female athletes. As if we went around calling football players _Lords_. And then the _Rebellettes_ were like second-string cheerleaders. They wore spangly bodysuits, hung out with the band, and tossed their batons into the air every once in a while. bella ---

Ok here goes, my high school mascot was the trojan. We were the fighting trojans. Not so bad right. How about my parents, both of whom are from a small town in central Illinois. They were the Cornjerkers. Their mascot was Jerkie, an ear of corn with arms and legs. ---

Our mascot is…are you ready?..the Yachtsmen. I’m dead serious. Our actual symbol is this big ship’s steering wheel (I do not know the correct nautical term for it). And if that isn’t bad enough, a few years back, they changed the name to “Yachtspeople” for a while to be PC. Ugh. We could be something normal, like other schools. The eagles, the bulldogs, the rams…anything but “Yachtsmen”! Can you just see what our mascot would be if we had one as opposed to the wheel thing? Ugh. ---

My school is the Rebels. Our official mascot is a hideous Confederate soldier, but it’s rarely used. Even our yearbooks and official school stuff like that has the school crest on it instead. (The students, on the other hand, usually have a rebel flag on them. No wonder we have that redneck reputation.) Another local high school are the Highlanders. Their drumline wears kilts when performing.
