I know I’ve had some crappy ones. I had no idea that I’ve started 80 threads! My first five had less than 30 replies. I’ve had 10 go to two pages. 24 had 5 or fewer replies. One was a duplicate. I’ve started 204 threads since I joined and only 9 got more than 50 posts, with only 1 getting more than 100, and 13 getting no reply whatsoever. Indeed, 126 of my threads generated less than 10 replies. ---

I don’t usually feel disappointed by a low number of replies. Now, if it doesn’t get any views, that’s completly different. I was a little disappointed in the low participation for [Christmas Cards for Doper Kids](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=345153), But there were more participants than replies to the thread. ---

I’ve started 319 threads, 9 had zero responses, 23 had one response, 16 had two responses, 24 had three responses, 18 had four, and 15 had five. So, that’s one third of all my threads have five or less responses. Another 74 between 6 and 10 replies, so that’s over 50% of my threads with ten or less replies. What’s my prize? ---

Had a couple replies, mod moves to MPSIMS (rightly) then… crickets. Wah! ---

65 threads started, and most sank quickly. The only one I got lots of replies on was [Malls are Boring!](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=175410). [This](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=166091) didn’t get many, but they were satisfying enough. The last response to this [obscure poets question](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=105869) made up for the fact that nobody could help. The really disappointing one was my [acronym-your-username game](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=82519) with no replies at all. ☹ ---

I’ve started 65 threads … 0 replies: 1 (and I thought it was a decent one, too) 1-10 replies: 49 11-20 replies: 5 21 - 50 replies: 7 51 - 99 replies: 2 100+ replies: 1 So, in conclusion, my most disappointing thread was my [zero reply wonder](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=221302). I’m still amazed that one of my threads hit 198 replies, though. Go me! ---

My [very first thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=51018) got no takers at all, even though it was a lovely little number with adequate potential. I’d lurked for almost a year before joining and had been a member for four months before daring to start a thread; it took me almost a full year to screw up my courage to start another. Luckily, the second one was quite successful. Less happily, it happened to be about head lice. Is it any wonder that I’ve only started thirteen threads in over five years of membership? ---

[Supermarket items you miss](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=325021) is my most successful thread, the only one to break the 200-reply mark. 11 others have topped 50 replies. These posts all turned out to be real clunkers: [Is “COPS” video footage ever used in courts?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=278480) Zero replies. [Any Spamcop users out there?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=265137). Only one reply, albeit a meaningful one. [Compiling a list of movies I have seen/want to see](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=238047) Zilch! [Discovery Channel’s “Rocket Challenge”-- why the TV-MA rating?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=222509) Two replies, one being my own to ask a mod to correct a mistake. [Future SDMB reminiscing threads](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=201224) I was really hoping this one might take off… no replies whatsoever. Wow. I’ve started eighty-six threads! Didn’t think it would be that many. Anyway, there are two threads I started that I thought were damned funny, but didn’t go down quite the way I’d intended. [Losers: A Spotter’s Guide](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=124209) was meant to be self-deprecating, but I guess that didn’t come through, and a lot of people took it personally. Wish I’d returned to it before it got locked, as I think I could have turned it around. And [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=100150) was posted in state of genuine, undirected anger, but it still cracks me the fuck up every time I read it. It got killed pretty damned quick, though. Other than that, I can’t say I’ve been too disappointed by any of the threads I’ve started. I’ve had a few that got few-to-no responses, but they were threads where I didn’t really expect to get many responses anyway. ---
