On the Boards, or related to the Boards? I was having drinks after work at the Algonquin once with **Ukulele Ike** (oh, we get around) and discussing various posters, including a long-gone gentleman named **Satan**. At one point I said in loud, ringing tones that “I know _way_ too much about Satan’s sex life,” which got us some Dark Looks indeed. ---

I was in a public computer room about three weeks ago with a friend. Now I have this habit of opening up multiple boxes on my computer screen, thus being able to access a range of websites at the same time. So we’re in this room full of people, and I want to access the SDMB and my e-mail at the same time. I usually browse several different threads at once. So I yells to my female friend (who is on one of the computers), “Yeah, just get three Straight Dope’s and one Hotmail!!!” If you don’t get it, try saying it aloud ---

Um… well… it’s pretty embarrassing but at the very beginning (note that I’m relatively new to the boards), when I saw the extensive use of the word “doper”, I was shocked at how many people here are on drugs!! :smack: Now I feel silly for having turned down that invitation to a Dope-fest… I figured it wasn’t my sort of thing!! And they were just trying to be nice to the newbie!! ---

I’ve done a couple of boo boos. I once got into really heatedly arguing a point with a moderator and then several people pointed out that I had misread the original point. Oops! _jerk moderator_ 🙂 I got at someone in a GD thread for being a real dickhead, and I was sternly admonished not to do so in GD. (Hmmpf! _They_ were the ones being an ass!) Then, I went to the Pit and someone else had already started Pitting them, so… all I could do was add to their thread. Then, several people in the Pit told me they thought the dickhead was being an ass towards me and why didn’t I start a Pitting then? D’oh! Ooh! Ooh! And then there was the time I used a racial slur as a thread title! I didn’t even know it could be seen as one, but I gits edumacated roight quick like, let me tell ya. This one time, at band camp… ah, never mind… ---

Not embarrasing as such, but it’s a mistake that springs to mind because of the way another doper responded to it. I said “try e-mailing their support number” to which someone replied “or maybe you could phone their e-mail address” ---

Fortunately, or unfortunately (you be the judge), I don’t easily embarrass. That being said, it’s occurred to me before that if you consider the active population of Dopers plus lurkers, and also consider the views reported for a thread, for the most part your greatest gaffes, unless they’re Pit material, are only seen by a tiny percentage of the community. Hardly anybody knows that I actually forgot to wear any pants to a Dopefest. ---

Every time I post I am somewhat embarrassed. I’m pretty sure that I kill threads. It’s like “Oh is she still posting here? Whatever lets move on.” Kind of like when you’re at a party and your arrival caused people to disperse and start to leave. Not that its ever happened to me… Um hello…anyone… ---

Someone once posted a question asking what Warez was, and I hazarded a guess that it was a misspelling of the Mexican city Juarez. And either no one else noticed as they carried on the discussion around me, or they were too tactful to mention my idiocy – and around here, what are the odds of that? But I remember, oh yes, I remember. It’s one of the minor things my mind pulls out and fondles when I’m having one of those “I’m A Moron!” days.
