OTOH, for many people, once they poop on the buffet table (better analogy? šŸ¤Ŗ ), and other people remark about their evident _gaucherie_, they cannot help themselves: they _must_ defend their action, and as each of their defenses is in turn picked apart by the crowd, they must defend each of those failing flailing defenses. Soon it looks like a scene from _The Sorcererā€™s Apprentice_ with ever more multiplying tit-for-tat bickers of futile defense. Meanwhile the footprint and notoriety of the original table-poop is growing explosively like diarrhea after too much spicy buffet food left out in the heat a bit too long (better analogy? šŸ¤Ŗ ) Iā€™m reminded of the kid who grasps the catā€™s tail then tells the cat ā€œIā€™m not pulling, you are.ā€ The cat ainā€™t gonna buy that argument and _will_ make its displeasure known. The kidā€™s not gonna get the cat to quit pulling, and as long as youā€™re defending, you _will_ draw continued counter-attacking fire. What an odd game; the only way to win is not to play. When you F up, and we all do eventually, either just give it the Sgt. Shultz treatment: ā€œZat never happened; I zee nooooothiiiingā€, or make your apology and STFU. No matter how much follow-up crap you get. ---

I mean look what happened when I did it earlier in this thread. I posted something I didnā€™t like when I read it a few hours later. Then I apologized for it. The way people ganged up on me for hours and days, through hundreds of messages. It made me determined never again to take anything back Iā€™ve ever said I these boards. /s ---

And Iā€™ve learned that the sooner you fess up and apologize, the less damage you do to those you offended, and to your own reputation. Yes, I learned that the hard way. I often go a day without Doping, only to return to a thread and think ā€œCrap, I didnā€™t mean HIS mother was a hooker, just that some are!ā€ (Not that thereā€™s anything wrong with that, except for ā€˜bring your kids to workā€™ dayā€¦) ---
