What I meant was that with sex or scatology, being humorous without being offensive is difficult; it’s a fine line between “funny” and “creepy”, and some are better than others at dancing on it. Our recent focus on controlling misogyny has made the social cost of crossing that line higher, which I suspect discourages attempts at blue humor. It’s still possible, of course - witness @Master_Wang-Ka’s wonderful tale of a colonoscopy [that took an unexpected bent.](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/magical-mystery-tour-or-where-no-man-has-gone-before-colonoscopy/983131) But in general, I think less-gifted Dopers are more wary of posting potentially-offensive comments. And as I said, if that makes female posters more comfortable here, that’s a fair trade. ---

Well, that was quite the evening. Got done with a meeting just as the Steelers/Patriots game was starting, and I was far from my usual tavern, so I watched it at a classic small town sports bar… OMFG, the “humor” of the old guys at the bar: _"Har, har, har,_ tell you what _I’d_ like to do to her… _[guffaw, guffaw, almost falling off stool…]_" I turned off my hearing aids and concentrated on the game, but it went on and on, one inappropriate “joke” after another. I was so close to asking “Any of you named Darren?” ---

I recall lots of cramping until they figured out I was awake and put me back down. When I finally came out of the anesthesia afterward, though, I started giggling like crazy. ---
