I hope that what I typed in the main thread is enough that this is redundant. But I’ve got to blow off some steam. How fucking dare you, MfM. How fucking dare you act like trying to kill of trans people isn’t a genocide. How dare you think can cissplain to an actual trans person. If you don’t know about trans genocide, then shut your fucking mouth. If you didn’t know that there were going to be tons of trans people who needed help, then shut the fuck up. And don’t you dare compare doing electioneering work to keeping people alive. Fuck that bullshit. No, if someone argues with me, I’m not going to argue back. I won’t see it. This is me blowing off steam, Because I nearly blew up in the thread itself. Trans genocide is a real thing, and this is not fucking debatable. Edit: and fuck you for trying to say that the systemic removal of trans people is one of those things that is bad but not genocide. Fuck. You. ---

I’m reasonably sure I agree with you. I have posted in a few threads that LGBTQ rights will be rolled back to pre Stonewall and that transitioning genders or helping a patient transition will be a crime. I just have one question- Who or what is MfM? I honestly do not know. ---

Thanks. I have intentionally not read or posted in that thread because even if I am wrong about Trump becoming dictator for life (and many anti Trump Dopers have argued that I am) everybody I have talked to about LGBTQ rights has agreed with my prediction. LGBTQ rights are gone. Trans rights will be the first to go and trans folk will be hit especially hard. There is no way to stay safe as nonbinary person in Trump’s America. That poster corectly identified their choices- hide or be put in jail. ---

I know you’re very upset @BigT , but genocide means: destruction of a ethnic, religious, national or racial group. Trans, lgbtq, non-binary are neither of these. That I can see. Now they may fall into those groups otherwise. But let’s not quibble. Yes, what may happen to these people will be horrific. Unconscionable and wrong, just terribly wrong. Don’t get mired in the terms. I can believe nearly everyone on this board is accepting and afraid for the Lgbtq communities and what’s to come. I don’t know MfM. It’s seriously not worth going nuts about him in particular. Good luck, keep talking to your friends, fight the fight you have to. This ain’t it. We’re (at least I am) on your side. ---

Not the meaning of the word. Do you not think wholesale murder of persons of non-binary identity is not bad enough? Maybe there is a more terrible word for it but it’s not in my vocabulary. Maybe you could enlighten. Instead trying to do your sad “gotcha” stuff. It’s not a good look. ---

The word “genocide” is relatively new and came into use during WWII in obvious reference to the Holocaust, but has since come to have a broader meaning. The prefix is from the Greek “geno-” which can be variously interpreted as “race”, “tribe”, or “of a kind”. By the same token, although “-cide” technically means “killing” (as in “homicide”) the meaning in the term “genocide” is more broadly understood to mean any policies that seek to undermine the foundations of life of the targeted group, including such things as the removal of civil liberties, with the intention that the targeted group eventually ceases to exist. If any of the people in the LGBTQ community – whether it’s the “T” part or all of them – have a real and palpable fear for their safety, – and they do – then the word applies. The Trump administration doesn’t even have to officially do anything directly; just empowering the haters is enough, much as they did with CPB last time which, on its own initiative, sometimes refused entry to brown people who looked like they might be Muslim, even when such refusal was in direct contravention of established policy. . ---
