By emphasising the troll’s part, they minimized the blame of the other participants. That is a kind of defense. ---

I’m not sure what you’re not understanding. If you say people had no choice – they “_must_ strike without being able to refuse their impulses” – that is excusing their behavior. I don’t think that’s what you were trying to say, but quit trying to argue you didn’t say it. ---

@gnoitall gnoitall called them “willing participants” in the rape jokes. That seems pretty fairly granting them agency for their actions. The troll stirred it up. The others ran with it. No defense of either. ---

Any chance that a new version of that troll started a thread in MPSIMS about another unusual sexual assault case (woman receiving a sentence for pretending to be a guy and using a dildo to penetrate another woman under false pretenses - that’s all I recall as I didn’t look at the article)? I took one look at that thread, from a brand new poster, and said, “yeah, right.” I can’t find it now - am guessing it was cornfielded. And my WAG is, same troll with a new name. ---
