What/ who is this ANNOYING caller?

Yep I get calls from random numbers in my area code and exchange; for example if my number was 333-555-1234 then I get calls from 333-555-5738 or 333-555-3913. I answered a few and it’s either a telemarketer, or a person calling me to find out why I called them (I didn’t, a telemarketer did and apparently spoofed my number.) So I just don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t recognize. If it’s important they can leave a message or send an email or text.

Oops, just slipped out. Won’t happen again.

The old familiar two rings and then nothing from a Nomorobo intercepted call is long gone for us. Since early last fall or so they all use numbers unlisted on Nomorobo. Esp. ones with the same area code and exchange as us.

So we actually tend to ignore such “local calls” and let the machine handle it.

yep the telco may block the scammer from calling anyone in that telco, and downstream of it.
So everyone should report harrassment and idiosyncratic diallers like this. It makes it clear that the caller has to be stopped from calling.

ok so the scammers may be anonymous VOIP hackers,
but there may be signatures the telco finds that blocks them even if they change voip account. SO it can last for longer…

Anyone know how to get call blocking on a Nokia Lumia 1020 phone?

I would like to stop the daily calls from 800-875-5143 but cannot find the call block function that’s supposed to be accessible on this phone under Settings or by tapping the objectionable number in the caller list (a blocking option is supposed to appear but doesn’t), nor can I locate a downloadable app compatible with Windows (my provider, AT&T is (not amazingly) of no help.

On our basic flip phone I just add the number to the contacts list with a setting to not answer.

I have moved far away from the area code of my cellphone, but kept my number. So I’d like to be able to block all “local” calls from that area code, since they are all spoofs. You’d think it would be easy, but I have found no way to do it.
