# What will happen to Saddam?

I can’t help but think there might be a certain relish in a Saddam vs Karl Rove Crackdown bout mud-wrestling thang. Karl’s been under physical scouring rehab, lately, probably had a better kept physique, so, no problem. Pay per view would be rightly lucrative.

Since he [committed suicide,](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_Goering#Capture.2C_trial_and_death) we might entertain doubts as to whether he really meant it.

He committed suicide to avoid hanging, which he saw as a fit death for a horse thief but not a Reichsmarschall. (Göring was not an aristocrat by birth but he was as pompous and class conscious as the Kaiser’s sons ever dared be and “the biggest social climber since Cinderella” [from Evita].) He said in his suicide letter that if they’d agreed to give him a firing squad he’d never have committed suicide, it was the rope he objected to.
