So, what do you think will happen to The Price is Right when [Bob Barker](http://www.dead-or-alive.org/dead.nsf/bnames-nf/Barker+Bob) leaves this veil of tears? I know the show has had other hosts, but that was a Gazillion years ago. Will they just take it off the air, realizing every episode is exactly the frickin same? Or will the get another host? ---

The sponsors will never give up a show that rewards people for familiarizing themselves with consumer products and their relative values-- are you kidding? Just so long as they get another host who’s properly enthusiastic about all-things-neutered, I’m willing to give the devil his due. ---

I don’t know if the show could survive without Bob. So much of its audience consists of old people who tune in to see Bob, not to watch pricing games. A good example is an elderly woman at the nursing home my wife works at. The note taped to her TV says “BOB BARKER - 10 AM - CHANNEL 9,” not “TPIR,” not “the fabulous, 60 minute Price is Right!,” but just Bob. I’m not saying that they won’t try to revive what is pretty much an hour of pure advertising, but whether it will succeed is anyone’s guess. ---

Rod Roddy has been ill this last year. He’s still listed as the official announcer for TPIR with Burton Richardson and Paul Boland listed as interim’s. If TPIR is still popular when Bob Barker joins the choir, what’s to stop a replacement? I remember when Bill Cullen MC’d the show. ---

Y’know, people said the same thing when Chuck Woolery left _Wheel of Fortune_ in 1981. “Pat Sajak?” they said. “Who’s that? We want Chuck back!” and they guy said “Well, Chuck wants more money,” and then the first guy said “Well, can’t we pay him?” and that led to “No, and the _Love Connection_ people said they’d match anything we offered Chuck,” and then somebody said “Well, who the hell is this Sajak guy, anyway?” and they said “He’s a weatherman from Nashville,” and then they went “Nashville? Who gives a fuck about Nashville?” and then the other people went “Look the contract’s been signed, already, so shaddup!” True story. ---

If CBS intends to keep the show, I think they should have an occasional guest host for a week at a time and see how the home audience responds. Personally, I’d love to see R. Lee Ermey as a host, that’d be a hoot! ---

Maybe they should do some theme shows to start preparing. How much for this neeeeeew COFFIN! This coffin features 100% satin lining and solid brass handles. One Bob’s Beauties walks around it and opens the lid and there is anothe BB lying in there. She smiles and sits up and waves. (they are both in swimsuits btw) All will be yours Bob really soon, ---

The show will go on, at least for a couple of years but it will start to decline in viewership. The older audience will either continue to die off or lose interest since the new whippersnapper just doesn’t seem like the nice boy that Bob is. The younger audience will tune out because, even though he is quie old, Bob has now become a kitschy generational gap crosser. Kids dig him, they won’t dig a replacement. The only answer is to cancel the show and send the spokesmodels to the employment agency located in my basement. ---

Well, if they’d give The Family Feud to Louie fucking Anderson, I think it’s a given that they’ll at least try to carry on. The reason all those nighttime versions of TPIR failed was because they cut it down to half an hour, consequently making it less exciting. I think the lure of free loot will keep it going. Maybe R. Lee Ermey could be the announcer: “Come the fuck on down!”, " A new fucking car!!!". ---

You know, if they’ve kept archival footage of the shows over the years, they could probably use a standin host on the set, and then just digitally edit stock footage of Bob back in. ---
