What words should I look up in my 1867 dictionary?

Ooooh! Tell us some of those! Let’s see, 1867, that’s too early for the Booths or Sarah Bernhardt, even. Is Jenny Lind there? Barnum? Adah Isaacs Menken? Chas. Dickens? Wilkie Collins?

People whose names are largely unknown today, but were a big noise back then?

Ejaculate was ripped out? Vandals!
It makes reading Sherlock Holmes hilarious.

Try “communism” or “socialism”
Would they have been around at that time? I’m a little ignorant of history.

Can somebody please tell me the old meaning of ejaculate, just as I’m curious what else it could mean?

nice

It used to mean a sudden verbal outburst (actually an outburst generally)

How about:
naughty
galoot

gamahuche

Look up:
television (as I seem to recall that this was a fantasy a long time before it ever happend, as a computer)
