I sense a lot of “I don’t think that means what you think it does” in their platform. For one example, I can see a society based on the Constitution or a society based on Biblical law. But I can’t see how anyone can reasonably claim to have a society based on both.

Do they oppose capital punishment?

> [@](#):

> Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual

A hard time believing they really mean this. I doubt they’re going to be happy about any self-governed individuals they are gay.

> Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted

So, no divorce?

> [@](#):

> Property: Each individual’s right to own and steward personal property without government burden

I’m sure you’ll have their full backing when you decide to open up your adult book store.

> [@](#):

As I wrote above, I sense there’ll be a lot of “What the Founding Fathers meant to say was…”

> [@](#):

> States’ Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government is reserved for the state and local jurisdictions

Right. They’ll fully support Massachusetts gay marriage, Nevada prostitution, California porn industry, and New York abortion clinics.

> American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances

They might actually mean this one. Except for Israel. And missionary rights. And fighting Communism.

Ah, yes. Israel is not actually mentioned in the CP platform – but it just might be the sticking point that blocks any merger with the America First Party. The CP’s potential vote base is almost entirely evangelical Protestants (plus a few conservative Catholics like Buchanan) and many of those are [“Christian Zionists”](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Zionism) (which Buchanan emphatically is **not,** and the AFP is hard against any American support for Israel).

[QUOTE=BrainGlutton]
I’ve already started threads on:

[What would a Libertarian America be like?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=400517)

[What would a Green America be like?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=400598)

[What would an America First America be like?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=400790) (Pat Buchanan’s paleoconservative America First Party)

As you will see, I’m trying to box the whole compass of American third-party politics.

Next: The religious-convervative [Constitution Party](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_Party_%28United_States%29) (founded as the U.S. Taxpayers Party in 1992, changed name in 1999). From its [url=]website:

Is a LaRouchie thread planned?

**You** start it. Not that it wouldn’t be interesting, but I’m trying to limit this to parties at least worthy of being listed [here.](http://www.politics1.com/parties.htm) (Minus the Republicrats, because why bother?)
