doctordoowop, you’re quite right; my mistake, no doubt owing to the lateness of the hour.
What I should have said is that the shoe issue came up at the criminal trial, with the defence challenging the prosecution’s inability to show that OJ had the shoes.
However, OJ was subsequently questioned about the shoes at the civil depositions (see this site), and denied having that type of shoes. He then was faced with the photos at the civil trial, and had to explain his denial.
The basic point remains the same - the civil jury heard evidence that the criminal jury did not.
It hasn’t been mentioned yet either, but a civil verdict only require 9 of 12 jurors to agree.(in Cal). Northern Piper-you sound knowledgable- here’s one for you–What’s the connection between the OJ Simpson trial(criminal) & the Phil Spector murder case? No not as easy as both were in LA county. I’ll let you think a bit.
Phil Spector had a group-The Teddybears. The lead singer was Annette Kleinbard. She changed her name to Carol Connors. She testified in OJ’s criminal trial. Something about seeing him the night before the murders & he wasn’t angry then. Say what? Yep, Ito let Johhnie C. do what he wanted.
BTW, Ito’s conduct cost him a promotion to the Ct. of Appeals, made almost all judges afraid of cameras,& left him in the same courtroom in LA.
Just got back to this thread, so didn’t see doctordoowop’s quiz before, but I have to say, I love it when people think I’m knowledgeable!
Sadly, I’m not - just read about the shoe thing somewhere. The link between the two cases is news to me, but interesting.
