Germany could also he indifferent to French reaction to such a declaration.

No, like I said, the idea predates Hitler, and seems to have been popular during the early 20th century. It was advocated by both pro and anti-semetic Zionists, so I don’t think there was any idea of Madagascar being particularly isolating (plus I imagine an African Jewish state would be capable of building boats). Just curious why Madagascar in particular seems to have come up so often in early Zionist plans.

Disappointed, but hardly surprised, inasmuch as he believed Arabs were racially inferior, and besides, he only had the support of portions of the Arab body politic anyway. The Marxists and other leftist Arab sectors saw Nazism as just as imperialist as the French and British.

I think he might actually have admired Israel ironically if he was alive today. He’d probably hate how pacifist and tolerant Germany has become.

While there were certainly more vulgar and violent anti-Semites in the NSDAP than Hitler, he certainly wasn’t just faking it for political gains, he believed it 100% and stuck with it from the beginning of his political career to his honeymoon when he put a bullet in his brain pan;
