If so, was he pointing at it and asking “Do you need any help with that?” I could easily understand him taking the open door as an invitation to enter the sauna and “take care of” your needs. And the poor guy must have felt crushed and humiliated at your negative response. ---

I know you think I’m just hassling you for no reason but “do you need me to close that for you?” and “do you need some help?” honestly, sincerely do not seem like substantially different questions to me. ---
