I think of the theme of this playlist as “I’m 15 and I feel sorry for myself”. What would you add to it? _Mad World_ by Gary Jules _Remind Me_ by Röyksopp _Somebody That I Used to Know_ by Gotye (yeah, yeah, but I like it ok?) _Where Did You Sleep Last Night_ by Nirvana - unpluged _Life in a Northern Town_ by Dream Academy ---

I don’t know the name of the song, but I heard an old one from Evanesence on the radio recently that fits this criteria. “These wounds are much too real. There’s just so much that time cannot erase.” ---

In the realm of lo-fi, melancholy/crazy folky music, _[We Might Be Dead by Tomorrow](http://youtu.be/2OQ99ROFlCk)_ and/or _[I’ll Kill Her](http://youtu.be/nnEDSBriVXk)_ by Soko. The classic Joy Division song _[New Dawn Fades](http://youtu.be/CbeNRHtpgOk)_ was a favorite for me when I was a mopey 15-year-old gothy kid. The [live Moby cover](http://youtu.be/4v_oNz6I8l8) is nice and melancholy as well. ---

_Valerie Loves Me_ by Material Issue for cynical teenagish irony _Starlight_ by The TV Sound for New Wavey bittersweetness _You Know What they do to Guys Like Us in Prison_ by My Chemical Romance for us-against-the-world rebellion that nonetheless will always end sadly. ---

Almost anything by the Smiths and quite a lot by the Counting Crows. For the latter, I recommend: Perfect Blue Buildings; Time & Time again; Raining in Baltimore; Goodnight Elizabeth; A long December; Walkaways; Colorblind ---

Portishead - anything and everything, but especially “Sour Times” and “Only You”
