I’d watch over the years as one head coach after another is hired and starts out full of promise and declarations of victory, only to eventually quit or be fired and leave as sad, broken shells of their former selves, never to be the head coach of another NFL team. I’d watch as one highly talented QB, RB or receiver after another wastes their best years playing on my team. I’d become just another victim of the Lions curse, part of me wanting to sell off the team and get rid of the albatross, part of me still thinking I can turn things around, until I find myself on my deathbed, never having seen so much as a single Wild Card playoff victory on my watch. In my recorded will, I will entreat my children to sell off the team before they are caught up in the curse as well. ---

It’s plenty of money to support my loved ones and although there can never be enough money spent on good deeds, you have excluded that stuff. So, for wasteful spending, I would start a bunch of motorsports scholarship programs for poor kids. Programs for drivers, like fully funded shifter cart rides and event fees. Then a ladder to more powerful open-wheel series for kids who show promise. Maybe I would even build tracks to provide more racing opportunities. There would also be a lot of programs to promote STEM careers in motorsports (something like Formula SAE). There would be college scholarships for really successful kids to continue to pursue their careers. My goal would be for American drivers and teams to dominate Formula 1 and sports car prototype racing in 30 years. ---

OK, for a weird answer, I truly wonder if, finding myself in such a situation, I could truly not worry about what things cost. All my life, it’s been about finding sales, and maybe slightly irregular marked down items that still work. How hard would it be to stop that? One thing for certain, I’d be a crazy big tipper. And after I set up a bunch of scholarships and endowments, I’d travel - cruising in style - no more interior cabins on lower decks. I’d dine out in nice places and order what I want, not what I could afford. I’d hire people to do the stuff I don’t want to do and pay them well. You’d definitely want to be hired as the one to scrub my shower. (My most hated chore!!!) I’d have a driver - I do hate driving. I don’t want much stuff, but I’d enjoy spreading the wealth by paying for services. ---

I’d have not a castle exactly but more of a manor built in an area where there are 4 seasons, but winter wouldn’t last forever. I’d have a stable for horses along with a trainer and stable hands, a barn for rescued farm animals, a kennel for rescued dogs and cats (all rescued animals could be adopted) and caretakers for the recues. I would also be involved in their care. My manor would be next to some type of water (lake, ocean, or sea), it would be secluded with a lot of woods and trails. I’d have a housekeeper and cook. It would have indoor and outdoor pools, a library, a movie theater, and beautiful gardens with fountains and paths (I guess I’d need a gardener too). I would have a few guest houses for family. I would travel wherever and whenever I wanted. It would be fun to take the grandkids with me. I would donate money and time to children’s hospitals and animal rescues. I would set up trusts for my grandchildren and help my daughter with whatever she may need. The same thing would go for my sisters and their families. I’m not real gaga over cars, but I’d buy a Jaguar (not Jag-wire 😉), some kind of an all-wheel drive car and my husband could pick out the truck of his dreams. I’d have vacation homes in southern Italy, Hawaii, and Ireland. I’d buy a hockey team in honor of my son. Or maybe start up a new team made up of players from Minnesota only. ---

I’d buy a fully-staffed 500-ft. yacht with lots of cats, and travel the world. I saw some beautiful yachts when I visited Monaco, and they gave me ideas. ---

I’d buy every house in the neighborhood and just let everyone keep living there. I’d give the residents the deeds, it would still be their property. They can sell it, they can stay, they can do whatever they want. It’s very much a heavily immigrant neighborhood and this would be a major infusion of wealth into the community, and more meaningful than just handing out wads of cash. ---

I would buy every building in DC that houses a lobbyist and throw them all out. Then I’d buy the US CofC, NAM, NRA and shut them all down. Oh yes, and the AMA. ---

I would _not_ buy a professional sports team. However, I _would_ buy naming rights to all professional sports stadiums and arenas in the US and give them all locally significant non-corporate names (or revert them to their original non-corporate names, if they had one). I would also make sure I had naming rights to any future stadiums for, oh lets say the next 50 years. ---
