Imagine you had the opportunity to name a set of identical triplets (male or female, your choice). What’s a good matching set of names you can give them? Yes, yes: it’s not _necessary_ to give them matching names, children should be named as individuals, harmful to lose one’s identity, matching names are cruel, etc. Let’s get that answer out of the way: “You shouldn’t give them matching names at all!” While that answer is true, it’s also boring. One way is to use matching initials: James, Joseph, Jonathan. Another way is to give them all a letter in common, like Alexander, Roxanne, and Maxine. (Their nicknames could be Lexi, Roxy, and Maxi. Heck, I’ll throw in Dixie too.) Or maybe Elizabeth and Rosalyn, which gives you Liz and Roz, but I can’t think of a third one.) You could also work a theme: April, May and June; or Violet, Rose and Daisy; or Sherry, Brandy and … well, I can’t think of a third. I guess I’m not very good at this. Why don’t you try? 🙂 ---

I knew a set of triplets born in the late 1880’s. Their mother told people the two girls were twins and that the boy was born later, because she felt having triplets was like having a litter. They were Pierce, Pearl and Pauline. I went to school with a set named Bob, Brenda and Barbara. The one that goes with Sherry and Brandy is Tequila…because I know someone by that name. edited to add: Tom, Dick and Harry, of course! ---

If the parents were chefs, they could name three girls Rosemary, Ginger and Pepper. (Or if one of them was a boy: Rosemary, Ginger and Basil.) If they were religious: Faith, Hope and Charity. If they were uncreative, they could name three boys Manny, Bud, and Guy. If the father was in the Royal Navy, he could name three girls India, Brittany, and Sydney.
