Oddly, in my travels pancakes, sausage and maple syrup always struck people as strange. The mixture of sweet and savory is off-putting to some.

For me, it’s the specific combination of sausage and maple. Each has its own strong flavor, and I think when you eat them together they go to war in your mouth and you taste the bloody aftermath.

Wait, I have some maple flavored sausage links at home – commercially bought. They taste fake, so I don’t like them, but typically, the sweet playing off of the savory is delicious.
