I was watching CNN the other morning and they interviewed two guys from Seattle, who were waithing in line for Star Wars Episode 2. They have been waiting in line since January 1. Now I’ve never been to Saettle, but I’m sure it’s mighty cold in Jan. and Feb. I’m pretty sure there is absolutely nothing I feel strongly enough about that I would forgo work and brave boredom and the elements for. How about you guys? Could you follow in the footsteps of these poor schmucks? What event would you be willing to endure sitting on your ass for months just to see?
P.S. It’s damn good to be back on the boards, especially here in the Cafe.🆒

I think I’d do that for a chance to see RENT with the original Broadway cast. Just the chance to be in the same room (theater?) as Taye Diggs, The Most Beautiful Man In The World[sup]TM[/sup] would be worth all that. But besides that, it’d just be… really really cool, or something. Riiiight.

Can’t say as I’d ever have that kind of passion for anything.

Maybe if I got to see The Two Towers with Liv Tyler.

I don’t think I’d do that for ANY movie!

Yeah… no flick could possibly be that good.

Most of the people who stake out box offices months in advance are probably just doing it to be hardcore. If you wanted to get a seat on the first day, it would be a lot easier to show up that morning or call a few days in advance and reserve a ticket.

I would wait in line for months to see Adrian Paul or Claudia Christian tied to my bed, but not for some movie.

No movie.

But as a geek I suppose I’m compelled to say “The Two Towers”. And hey, it’s not about Liv Tyler (though she was WAYYY better than I expected, and elvish enough not to make me gag)–the cuties are Viggo Mortenson (mmm’mmm!!!) and Orlando Bloom!

I’d say “mine all mine” except there’s a certain RL sweetie I’d rather have… 😉

Nothing. I bought tickets six months in advance years ago to see the King Tut Ankh Ammun exhibit when it came to Los Angeles, then waited about two hours in line to get in to actually _ **see** _ the exhibit. It was well worth it. But I wouldn’t wait in line for months, or days or even many hours for just about anything I can think of. Twenty-five years ago, when I hadn’t reached geezerhood, I actually spent the night on the street to be in front for the Rose Parade, but I wouldn’t dream of doing that today. I’m a geezer, after all, and I don’t have that much time left! 😃

Every Cirque du Soleil production ever, in a row (one after another, that is, and not an actual _row_), with bathroom and meal breaks of adequate length. And even then, maybe.

Anything else would be fairly (read: very) pornographic, and would feature quite a few of Hollywood’s top (read: really hot) actresses.

One should never try to emulate the deranged.

C’mon, it’s not like there is a predetermined number of showings. As long as the people keep coming out, they’ll keep playing it. So being ‘first’ to see it is not really something to brag about. A testament to stupidty, really. Don’t they have, whadaya call those things…jobs?

I could see waiting a couple of hours in a line for a one time only performance…but for a movie???

Never.
