Wow. I’m even wearing a flannel shirt. My reason for my major choice? I dropped out of physics after hitting a brick wall with the math, and history didn’t require a thesis. I still enjoy both of them, though. ---

Freshman EE: I am smarter than my friends. I love Algebra Sophmore EE: I am still smarter than my friends. I love Calc. Where did my life go? Only 3 more years left. Junior EE: Holy Shit! This shit is hard. What have I gotten myself into. I should’ve chosen IS like my friends. I hate DE. 2 long years left. Senior EE: Life sucks. EE sucks. How am I gonna make it thru this last year. Why did I choose this major. I should’nt have gone to college. One year of this shit left. Graduation day EE: Wow. That wasn’t so hard. I think I’ll get started on my Masters this fall. ---

The Journalism one is spot-on. I’m working on my masters now, and just this week one of my profs said, “I have confidence in you all. You’ll all do excellent in your field . . . of course, you’ll probably still starve for a year or two after this program . . .” ---

I can think of three possible explanations: 1. He is insane. 2. Like all male CS majors, he chose a minor that would let him be around women. (CS major, English minor here. 🙂 ) 3. Like all male Theatre minors, he wanted a major that would let him be in a nearly 100% male environment. Either that, or he’s bipolar. His down / quiet / introspective moments are spent in CS classes, and his high / bold / outgoing moments are spent in Theatre classes. Then again, I’m not a Psych major, so I’m not qualified to say that. 😉 ---

Political Science: I’m not certain what I want to do…I don’t like math, I have no artistic talent…and someday I may want to be a lawyer. German: Well I got A’s in high school I have to take it for two years anyway…what’s two more. Then I’ll have a double major! Besides that German undergrad instructor is hot. My advice to my coworker’s college age kids. “Go to college, learn a skill.” ---

**Balance** : No, I’m not that wizardly yet. I’m still trying to figure out how to make a program that will zero-out core even if it hits an already-zeroed cell. The best I’ve been able to come up with are this one [\>], which stops the first time it hits a zeroed cell, and this one [[-\>+\<]\>], which is either an infinite loop or a quick way to a coredump, depending on how your interpreter or compiler implements the core. ---
