I hate hate hate hate hate that song!!! It’s disgusting and nasty and insuting to me as a woman. Please someone point me to a cite saying that it is mocking or a joke… but I doubt it is. Even if it was, the thousands of adolescents, teens and young adults who love this song don’t know it… and they will think that it’s OK to think/behave that way. ---

Y’all remember how “let’s get retarded” got turned into “let’s get started”? A song that made fun of the whole “gotta get drunk/high to have fun” idea (not that the BEPs are beggar nuns, but hey, humor’s free) got turned into a hymn selling that same idea in order to be PC enough for MTV. The original lyrics had told me the BEPs had sackfuls of irony in the pantry; the second version told me they’re perfectly happy to do whatever it takes to sell. ---
