Whatever happened to glorious Technicolor?

Ok, so now we need to figure out what happened to breathtaking cinemascope, and stereophonic sound. Those are just stepping stones because our real goal is to find the scarlet lips and five foot bosoms.

Enjoy,
Steven

Sorry, wrong link above. Here’s the correct one:

• Color in 1906: Tartans of the Scottish Clans.

Must you rub in my past ignorance?

Well, yeah, actually. Please look in the upper left corner of this page. Right below the three big words? Yeah, that is the one.

Another contribution to your problem is that theater owners will turn down to the lamp to save money at the cost of a brighter screen.

I believe Zhang Yimou shot several of his films in Technicolor – I know that Ju Dou was Technicolor. As most of the story takes place at a dye mill, there are plenty of colorful scenes.

Biggest issue is running the lamp way past it’s rated hours—the envelope darkens with deposited tungstan, or if the lamp is horiziontal, not rotating the bulb enough and the top turns dark.

We won’t even discuss how much more likely a overage bulb is to detonate with out warning…

That was one point that the “Robin Hood” documentary made, that a lot of the movies made with later colour techniques have deteriorated badly, while the Technicolour prints have lasted.

Walloon, I watched some of those clips last night. Thank you.
