I may be missing something because I don’t watch TV, but it seems like JD Vance has all but disappeared from view after the election. I’m not _complaining_, mind you. I just think it’s odd that he seems to have disappeared. I looked for him at President Carter’s funeral, but he doesn’t seem to have attended, maybe because he’s not veep yet. I like to think he got eaten by Haitian cats out for revenge, but surely there are more likely explanations. I’ve asked friends and relatives who do watch TV, but they haven’t seen him in quite awhile, either. What gives? ---

Vance served his purpose and now his purpose is to be President if Trump dies. How many VPs are ever really consequential? I guess Cheney was. ---

Slightly more seriously: NOT standing out is the best possible option for anyone in Trump’s circle. NO ONE is allowed to have more attention than Trump, especially not someone who, under the right circumstances, can take over. Honestly, it’s smarter than I’d have previously given him credit. Of course, he may just be figuring all he has to do is wait… In a few weeks/months, I’m sure he’ll be allowed out on a tight leash to adoringly praise the Illustrious Leader to all the right donors, griftees and propagandists. But this is coming up on Trump’s Bigly Return and Revenge-O-Rama, getting in the way of this is a fast track to the scaffold. ---

It might be of note that Vance was absent from the advance team that was sent to Greenland to tell the residents there that they will be assimilated. The Big Kahuna there was the idiot son, Don Jr. “We will treat you well”, he told the Greenlanders, as they gave him the finger on his way out. I don’t really know what’s going on with Vance but it’s probably like what happened with Pence before him – he knows his place, and as anyone who has anything to do with Trump soon learns, your place is nowhere. ---

I think Vance will mostly be used to talk to the Senate when they’re trying to pass certain legislation or getting certain kooks approved for the cabinet. ---

He knows that if Trump survives this term that it will be his turn next to run for POTUS. But without Trump’s endorsement, he doesn’t have a prayer, so he’ll be a good little boy for four years and do exactly what he’s told. Rule #1: never upstage the boss. ---
