**Manhattan** used to be the mod in GQ back when I started hanging out on the SDMB, and I have many memories of seeing him moderate that forum. However, I don’t remember why he stopped being a mod, and now has left the SDMB all together. I saw a closed zombie thread in GD today that was moved there long ago by **manhattan** , and noticed he was still listed as a charter member. However, his profile lists him as not being active since 05/15/2005, and his last [post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=6134683&postcount=2) was on 05/07/2005. His post wasn’t a good bye message or anything, and it is hard to do a search for a moderator since they post so much, and are mentioned in so many threads. So, what ever happened to **manhattan**? ---

As I recall, he said he was going to stop posting because he didn’t like the political atmosphere of the board. ---

He showed up at my board back in fall of 2009 for a few weeks (under the username **ryevermouthbitters** , which I thought clever) before wandering off again. It’s a pity he’s not around so much anymore, I always quite liked him. ---
