…Because this guy is _funny_. His [last thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=300986) is just over a year and a month ago. His last post is 8 minutes after that. Looks like he was going kind of strong, then just disappears.
Anyone know the story?

Partially to bump my own post, partially because it looks weird…
…but his status is “guest”, even though he posted for a good deal longer than one month. Does your status revert to “guest” if your subscription expires?

IIRC, he decided that RL was calling. He didn’t regret his time here, and he might return, but Life beckoned. Too bad, that. I miss him, too.

Are you sure about that? [His tale of chasing the Jehovas Witnesses with a sword](http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/doctorbedlam/story1.html) is completely believable and something I’d do. The broadsword is in the bedroom closet right now, and there’s a plywood “waster” (a practice, or kids’ sword) near the front door.

Actually, the Jehovah’s Witnesses story was the unvarnished truth. I did leave out the part where the cops made the rounds, knocking on doors, though…

Seriously, though: my job ate my life for quite a while there. Things are much more even-keeled now, and while chaos still reigns, at least it’s more or less contained.
I hadn’t thought about the Dope for a while, until someone here emailed me and asked about my book. That was how I found out there was a _thread_ about me. Talk about feelin’ like an attention whore…

I just have to say that between **Sampiro** ’s momma getting sick and reading **Master Wang-Ka** ’s story about the Jehova’s Witnesses - well, those pretty much solidified me joining the SMDB. Thanks a bunch! I read that story aloud to my entire family and we all about pissed ourselves.
