Whatever happened to Quentin Tarantino? When he burst on the scene in the mid '90’s, everyone was hailing him as the next great filmmaker. But then he seems to have just disappeared. I can’t think of anything he’s done in the last 4 or 5 years. Where’d he go?

I’d like to think that after “Destiny Turns On the Radio” he crawled under a rock in shame and gave up moviemaking.

Well, he has been awful quiet in the last few years, especially compared to all that noise he was making in the early to mid 90’s.

The [IMDb listing](http://us.imdb.com/Name?Tarantino,+Quentin) for him shows that he has apparently written a new movie called **Kill Bill** starring Uma Thurman. The site lists the movie as still in pre-production, but was last updated in November 2000. Either the filming is taking a lot longer than anticipated to get started, or some serious problems have arisen.

Well, hopefully, he realized he should have called it quits after Reservoir Dogs and took early retirement.

If only it could have been made retroactive so the world was not burdened with the existence of Pulp Fiction (I know, I’m probably the only male American hetro that thought the movie sucked and puts in on my Top 10 worst films list) or Destiny.

To me, The script for True Romance, the movie Reservoir Dogs and (oddly) the episode of ER he directed were his only worthwhile projects. I can’t say I miss seeing him around.

A lot of great directors turn out the occasional piece of shit. I’d like to see him bump up his numbers so we can see if he’s got anything else in him.
I liked PF.

His next project is **Kill Bill**. It stars Uma Thurman. She plays a prostitute who has a pimp named Bill (Warren Beatty is in talks for that role). He somehow puts her in a coma, and when she awakes, she sets out to kill him. The release date is set for some time in 2003.

After that, some time in 2004, a film called **Glorious Bastards** is slated for release staring Michael Madsen. It’s a WWII film about U.S. soldiers taking on the Nazi’s. The U.S. soldiers are a group of men about to be executed, but are offered a chance at repreive ([cite](http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=8458)).

Please God, don’t let there be a dozen of them.

I miss Quentin too. True Romance, Reservoir Dogs AND Pulp Fiction are in my feeble mind modern classics and I sincerely hope he can get back to the style that made him so popular.

I never saw the one with Cloony about vampires or werewolves or whatever. I just looked pretty horrid. C’mon Quentin, snap out of it. Did Mira’s departure put him in this funk?

The star (Uma Thurman, as noted by vandal) became pregnant. Production had to be pushed back to accommodate.

And “Jackie Brown” was a damned enjoyable movie.

He wrote the lead role for Thurman, and she did extensive physical training for it. She’s pregnant now, so the movie is on hold.

So, is Quentin ALWAYS on cocaine, or is he just naturally that twitchy?

But hon, did you _see_ “Destiny?” There are pieces of shit, and then there are movies like “Destiny.” Alas, I lack the scatalogical vocabulary to descibe the difference.

Cranky, I completely agree that “Destiny” sucked ass. But to be fair, Quentin only acted in that movie. Now one can certainly question his judgment in accepting that role, but since he neither wrote nor directed that POS, it seems that should only be considered a failed side project at best. Acting was never his strong suit anyway. At least in everybody else’s mind. For an indication of how he feels about his acting ability, check out the DVD commentary track on “From Dusk Till Dawn” (his first and only DVD commentary so far)

I thought ‘From Dusk Til Dawn’ was a pretty good movie…right up until the vampire part. From there it blew dog.

Jackie Brown **was** good, but I think that’s due to Elmore Leonard more so than Mr. Tarantino.

I think he’s afraid of failure.

My Bad! For some reason, I pinned the whole piece of offal on him. I was mistaken. thanks for letting me know.

And I guess I should be relieved. Except that means that the director of that gem is still out there somewhere… possibly still creating cinema…

That is one guy I’d be happy to see the last of.
If he has a second expression, it must be when I’ve just blinked.
