It should be noted that, while the Hamiltonian of a system often corresponds to the total energy of a system, it doesn’t always. The Hamiltonian blowing up doesn’t mean any fundamental physical laws are being broken; it just means that Hamiltonian dynamics won’t be very useful for analyzing the system.
