Whats a good Scotch?

Rib Eye, if you can afford a 25 Macallan you should be able to drink it any way you like. But I’ll second this bit

.

Glenlivet just happens to be ubiquitous enough that it’s inexpensive; most casual scotch drinkers would recognize it as respectable; it’s light enough for casual drinkers and it’s nice enough for single malt drinkers to be enjoyable.

Of course, now I want to sit back and enjoy a Laphroaig. There’s my afternoon shot.

This thread reminded me of the time me and my friends drank 2 bottles of my dads 30 year old Glenfiddich. I had some friends over when I was 15 and we polished off two bottles…mixed with coke!!! For some reason he never mentioned it or possibley even noticed (I think they were a gift and he’s more of a G & T guy) so I didn’t recieve the ass whooping i’m sure most of you whisky buffs think I deserve! Funnily enough since then i’ve never been a big fan of whisky…puking up a pint or two of the stuff out of your nose tends to take the shine off it.

 I’ve never even seen a bottle of 30 yo scotch :frowning:

Another vote for Macallan. I’m not a big scotch drinker. I only have scotch at hunting camp. There’s something great about the crisp fall weather and a scotch on the rocks.

Macallan is cheap and good. It is the only single malt that I know of at the well stocked NH state liquor stores that is less than 40 bucks for a bottle. Basically, every other brand seems to be more expensive.

Like I said, I’m no expert, but I love the stuff. Very smooth. Tastes great. Warms you up after a long day in the cold woods.

Debaser, if you can, try Highland Park. It gives me the same warm, welcome in from the cold type feeling.

Will do, Grey.

This thread is making me thirsty!

15 year old Bruichladdich is pant-moisteningly gorgeous. IMO. humina HUMINA.

also partial to port-wood finish Glenmorangie (Glenmorangie is a very very nice malt any which way) and from the Lowland area Auchentoshan is a nice butterscotchy malt.

Old Rip Van Winkle, 15-year, 101 proof. By far. Hard to find, but not very expensive.
