**HAPPY KING KAMEHAMEHA DAY, EVERYONE!**

Not a holiday in Washington, which is weird considering how many Hawaii stickers I see on cars up here. Tomorrow though, is International June the 12th Day, and I’m using my floating holiday to take the day off.

Well, the drain is still blocked despite the cleaner… I phoned the landlord, only to discover he’s been stuck in Fuerteventura since March, as the flights all got cancelled while he was out there. Hopefully someone will be coming to have a look, possibly this evening, possibly tomorrow morning, and hopefully before you can smell me all the way from over there.

It’s very strange. I used to get up at 5:15, but now can’t sleep past 4am. What is different is that I just put on some sweat pants and a fleece and climb to the loft to start my work day. Get things figured out, boot servers and such if needed at a time I don’t interfere with others peoples work. My Wife is doing much the same but her new office is downstairs on main level.

My mid day is 10am. Take a shower when I see everything is humming along. Have dinner with my Wife around 4pm, play cards or chess or if too tired to think, watch a bit of TV and in bed to try to read by 7 or so.

Part of this is due to having a satellite dish for internet (only option) we get a bonus zone of download data between 2am and 8am. An extra 50 GIG.

Today I’m getting a new heat stove put in. So I’m sort of working. Waiting on crew to do it. They are 2 hours late.

Afternoon all. The Geek Squad (that’s what Best Buy calls them, not my idea) came buy just after I retrieved the empty trash can and had the TV working in no time (I figure it cost me about $1/sec to get it working. He did show me what to do if it goes wonky again and suggesting I get another HDMI cable and showed me where to install it. Expensive lesson, but I could afford it.

Dishes are washed and lawn is mowed/clippings are bagged, so the major jobs for the day are complete. May get out for a bit later, but nothing much planned. 82F now.

**Nut** , had to look up Fuerteventura as I never recall hearing of it (one of the Canary Islands, for any others geographically challenged). Guess if you have to be stranded somewhere, a resort with beautiful beaches and pretty countryside isn’t a bad choice…

Good luck with the drain.

That kid is good for you, **Dot**.

**Sari** , you do have your share of drama in the neighborhood. Ever watch a British show called Coronation Street? Your neighborhood could qualify for a sequel…

**boofae** , sounds like you hit the jackpot on the mail front. I’m just waiting for my internet/phone bill…

**FCM** , bet he’s giving out your number just to throw them off the track…lovely fellow…

OK, since my drains work, I think I’m going to bathe and wash what is left of my hair, them decide if any further activity is warranted.

All y’all take care.

\*\*MetalMouse \*\*- I doubt that he’d do that. I suspect the collectors googled his past addresses, which came up with ours, and crossed it with our phone number. Nothing disappears from the internet, you know.

I had a couple of refills to pick up at CVS, and I decided to run to WalMart to see if they had the TP I like in stock. They didn’t. But I got some cat food, and some wiper blades for the truck. The dishwasher is about halfway thru its cycle, and in about 15 minutes, the meatloaf goes into the oven. No dusting or vacuuming has occurred, due to nappage by other residents of the household. Oh well…

We’ve had some rain and it looks (and sounds) like more is moving in. Yay for rain!!

It’s a pretty common touristy destination from here, in fact my parents narrowly escaped the same fate, and caught one of the last flights out of there before shutdown.

Drain guy has been, but the mission was not a success; despite disturbing a truly incredible smell, he couldn’t get it clear due to a weird drain layout… It’s being passed on to the next level up of drain cleany people. While this may mean I don’t get to shower still, the good news in this is that it’s Not My Fault. I was a bit concerned that it was just my very long hair blocking things up, but no, it’s some eejit that, by the look of it, has been flushing wet wipes for some time.

Oh well, it’s adding some interest to an otherwise dull week.

The hospital bill for **FCD** ’s surgical adventure came today. Our share amounted to about a quarter of a percent of the total. And that includes a saving of $3.50 for paying before July 2!

Times like these, our monthly insurance premiums don’t seem so obscene.

Hello, Mumpers. Still flaring. I was going to take prednisone this morning, but the disability bus was waiting, and I couldn’t find the bottle fast enough. If I take any now, I’ll be awake all night, so I’ll make it through today and do it tomorrow.

It was SO nice to venture forth beyond walking distance! I hadn’t seen I-5 in 3 months. It’s still there. Eye doctor appointment went as usual. He’s adding another glaucoma eye drop to the one I already take. This is the stuff with the side effect of growing lashes. Can’t you just see the manufacturer’s eyes light up when THAT little tidbit was discovered? “OK, stick it in an applicator bottle, slap a fancy new name on there, and we’ll price it at $100 a pop! Yee-ha! New yachts all around!” I don’t actually need longer eyelashes, so I wonder what’ll happen.

Now I’ll have to walk to the drugstore. Not sure how that’s going to work. Delivery takes 2 business days, and my pressure is up, so I hate to wait that long.

**swampy** , I’m just going to use your menu plans. I crave whatever you and OYKW are having.

I hope tomorrow’s doctor’s appointment is smooth sailing and no dietary limitations ensue.

**shoe** , I had a fluffernutter once as a kid and liked it a lot. Mom wouldn’t buy marshmallow fluff, so it was a couple of years before I had another one, and I found it hard to swallow–literally. It needs some jam or something.

**sari** , I think the fence idea is brilliant. Let the other two feud if they want to. And holy frick, this woman is ticked bout your dogs “harassing” her from two doors away?!

**flyboy** , Happy King Kamhehameha Day to you as well! I’m unsure how one celebrates. Something to do with flowers, right? I should google it. Any special foods or libations?

**Dot** , sounds like you and The Kid have a symbiotic relationship. 🙂 You could try my mom’s rule: Whoever said “I’m bored” has to wash dishes. Worked like a charm. Bonus: when kids can’t complain, they find ways to amuse themselves.

Oh, how my friends’ dietary restrictions irk me! I was going to have some friends over tomorrow for a boil - first time we’ve had people over since quarantine and the first time use of a new gadget! - but I learned that their kid is vegan and “oh, yeah, neither one will eat that anyway.” Having advised said friends of what I was planning earlier in the week, I would have expected a heads up BEFORE I bought the food and not after.

_sigh_ My friends are lovely people but kind of a dietary nightmare. One year these guys were on Atkins. Another year both were on South Beach. Yet another everyone was low-carb and one of their kids was gluten-free. Now one kid is vegan, the other is picky and the wife is on Whole 30 while the husband is on weight watchers. Which means I’m just going to take whatever the hell I want out of my fridge and cook it and hope everyone finds something they like.

Now off I go to get some food - I worked through lunch today and now it’s almost 5 p.m. and I realize I haven’t had a proper meal since 7 a.m.

Howdy Y’all! I survived havin’ to dress appropriately for the public two days in a row and the doc appt. I got there and was in the exam room within ten minutes. I sat in the exam room almost an hour before the doc came in to see me. :dubious: Then I was out of there fifteen minutes later and that included the vampire drawin’ some blood. There were some concerns about elevated liver enzymes but liver seems to be actin’ OK now. The vampire draw was to check and make sure. Also we have supped. I was hongry when I got back to da cave. Chillage now ensues.

**MetalMouse** , this street is nothing compared to when I lived in Baltimore. I could write a book. My neighbor used to say we didn’t need to watch **Cops** on TV, we’d just gather on my front porch.

**Nellie** - she lives two doors up, but my neighbor and I don’t have a fence between us, so my dogs are right next to the neighbor two doors up. There was no fence between me and my neighbor as her family used to own both sides of the duplex and they shared the yard. I was going to put a fence in when I moved here, but my neighbor said not to bother since she never goes out back anyway.
Now I guess I should put one in now.

My ex, now deceased, bf used to make crab boil, only he used some bottled stuff that I think was called Louisiana Seafood Boil. I imagine it is the same as shrimp boil, only with crab instead of shrimp. It’s pretty good stuff, he used crab, chunks of fish, corn on the cob, potatoes… Probably some other stuff too, I think it is one of those things that you can add what you want at various times depending on how long they need to cook. It was spicy, but not too spicy.

I suppose the vegan wouldn’t want to eat the veggies since they were cooked with meat, but the low carb people could just eat the meat and skip the corn and potatoes.
I’d still make the shrimp boil, make a salad, and get nice big crusty loaf of bread and call it dinner.

Anyway, I’d be thrilled to have that for dinner, especially if somebody else cooks it.

**wordy** , when you do decide to do your shrimp boil (this holds for crab boil too), make sure you put three (or more) layers of newspaper or butcher’s paper on the table. Then, you can just fold up all of the shells and cobs, bag it up and take them out to the trash can. 😃 Your friends sound like some of mine. I’ve quit inviting them over for meals. However, they still go to some of the same potlucks that I do. I have a good repertoire of vegetarian and vegan dishes, but I’m not adding low carb, gluten or onion free to that. We list ingredients on potluck dishes and then it’s take it or leave it.

**dot** , you can make fudge with the rest of the marshmallow cream. This recipe is pretty close to the one my mom used to make: [Marshmallow Creme Fudge Recipe](https://www.thespruceeats.com/easy-marshmallow-creme-fudge-recipe-305178)

Irked, came home, walked the dog and had mojo poke tacos with homemade salsa verde (courtesy of both being pulled from the freezer a couple of days ago) and cucumber salad. Yum!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evening all. Did go bicycle shopping at the local bike store, their stock is pretty well depleted (they are supposed to have more come July). The one bike I sorta liked is about $650, and the electric motor bikes (which I like because they have big seats for my big bottom) run $2,000-$2,500! Might be cheaper to join a gym and ride their stationary bikes (just curious, are gyms proliferating all over your area? We’ve got at least a dozen within a 5-mile radius of my house).

**wordy** (I like that better than talkative, so I will change), I’d be a fussy eater too (or as the late comic George Carlin said “Fussy Eater is just another name for Big Pain in the Ass”). But they could have told you sooner.

**swampy** , glad the checkup went well. I’ve spent a little time in the doctor’s rooms too.

**Nellie** , keep us advised on the eyelashes.

**Nut** , _while holding nose_, hope they get the shower fixed soon.

**FCM** , makes you wonder what people without insurance do in that situation. Live with the pain, I guess…

OK, time for readin’ and internettin’. All y’all take care.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ Went to bed at eight-thirty last night cause I was tahrd and sleepy. Thus I was wide awake at four-thirty this a. of m. ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 92 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage of da yahd. We are dangerously close to havin’ the worst lookin’ yahd in da hood and well, we just cannot have that, can we! The idea is to get out there around eightish and get it done and over with. I also foresee some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. I went about the public two days in a row, so I say this is well deserved. Sup shall be grilled chikin strips and sallit, one of our favorite Summer time meals. There’s a quarter loaf of good crusty bread that I shall turn into croutons. Chunk up the bread, add a little salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, onion powder and toss in olive. Place on bakin’ sheet and bake at 375 Amurrkin about ten minutes. YUM! Oh, preheat the oven. Y’all know to do that though, right?

**Nellie** hope you’re feelin’ better today.

**wordy** some people just live to be a PITA. I’m with **sari** , do the shrimp boil (YUM!), make a big sallit, and add in some good crusty bread. You could do some N.O.T. and corn separately from the shrimpies and snausages if you feel like bein’ nice, but personally I would not sweat it.

**Nut** hope you get to shower today. On the plus side, if you go about the public, folks will be glad to social distance from you. 😃

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!
