What's cool from the Czech Republic?

Even though I don’t care about it anymore - female porn stars. The Czech Republic appears to be LOADED with them (especially nice if you like big boobs).

And get a mullet wig to go with it!

When I went to Prague, my distant cousin gave me a bottle of Becherovka to take home. He told me it was a traditional gift. (Tastes like nutmeg to me.)

There’s a new lemon version that’s recently launched. They’re pushing it quite hard at the airport. It’s a lot easier to drink than the original version.

I’ve been living and working here since September. If anyone is visiting and needs a guide or a sofa bed,let me know.

I used to love the old town and Charles Bridge back in the 80s. Has it really gotten as theme park-y as people say?

In my opinion the Czechs definitely have one of the nicest national team ice hockey jerseys (although the Russian ones are pretty cool these days, too - MUCH better, in my opinion, than those BORING dark red ones with “CCCP” on them that they used to use before the collapse of the Soviet Union). If I were so inclined I’d consider getting one. And I have no Czech in me (at least not as far as I know).

Mikov knives are made in the Czech Republic and are pretty nice for the price.

I’d suggest a small flag or even a touristy tee shirt.

With online shopping all else is easy but those at least should have some relation to the country.

I love the stuff. Tastes like Christmas to me. It’s got that clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger kind of thing going on, but it’s also got the backbone of bitters, with some earthy roots and herbs in the mix. It’s supposed to be something like 30+ botanicals. It’s in the same general family as something like Chartreuse, so if you like that and spirits similar to that, Becherovka would be up your alley.

CZ is so good that the Italians do a knock-off. Look up Tanfoglio (sometimes spelled Tangfolio). I can’t remember if it’s the original CZ or the Tanfoglio version that is used by a lot of police forces. [I’m at work and can’t get to any sites with gun-related content.] It’s imported to the USA by a company in Florida called European American Arms (EAA) and called a Witness.

It’s an astoundingly comfortable pistol.

And, like the guns, your friend can’t import these either: I’ve heard they’ve got some of the most gorgeous porn stars…
–G!

Marionettes. Many, many shops near the castle or Wenceslas Square sell nothing but marionette puppets. A limited number of stock characters (King, Queen, Devil, etc.) in a variety of sizes.

Absinthe, and the kits with slotted spoons and such that Absinthe fetishsts require. They also sell a lot of Jaegermeister for some reason.

Books with Alphonse Mucha art or Kafka or Golem stories. Again, every bookstore specializes in these. Look for pop-up books that eature the castle or any of the church towers people used to get defenestrated from.

Touristy crap from any vendor on the Charles Bridge.

A lot depends on the time and the day. Weekends are pretty full of tourists, especially stag and hen parties from the UK. Charles bridge on a Saturday afternoon is almost solid with people, the old town square is the same. But, if you get up early on a Sunday and make it into town while the tourists are still hungover, it can be very quiet and beautiful.
