i was stage managing a play where a character was wearing a cross on a chain, but one night he lost it. i tore that theater apart looking for something to substitute and then i found a rosary. so i cut the cross off and attached it to a piece of tie line and proudly bring it to the actor who then tells me that he found the original cross. so i hung the mutilated rosary from my rearview because if i’m going to burn in hell, i might as well show everyone why. ---

Us non-muslim expats here are always really intrigued as to why so many muslim taxi drivers have a CD printed with a Arabic - verses from the Qaran we assume - hanging from the mirror. The Qaran verse is understandable - but why a _ **CD** _?! ---

I also have a Yankee Candle Company air freshener! Mine is “sunflower” and it smells really good. I hate dangly shit impeding my vision while im driving so I don’t have anything else on my mirror. I have a bobbing head panther with a gold chain necklace that my brother found in the ditch that I have glued to my dash. Theys not my rearview mirror, I know, but its right underneath it. ---

I have nothing there - it’s just distracting. My husband has a parking pass, but it’s small enough that the mirror hides it. My kid has crap in her car, but I rarely drive it. ---

I have an air freshioner with a picture of Rosie the Rivoter on it. It has the words"We can do it" along the bottom, and the scent is “Victory.” I also have a couple of stuffed frog heads.( Kind of like fuzzy dice, only frogs.) ---

My dad always told me never hang anything there 'cuase it just gets in the way. It’s not safe, you see. Distracts the driver. Could cause an accident. There’s been nothing on my mirror since I graduated college. ---

I typically don’t hang anything from the mirror; I keep most of my decorations on the dashboard. But I do have a little Jeep ornament I hang from the mirror for Christmas. ---

I have a large collection of mardi gras beads hanging from the rear view. One on of them is attached a plastic purple caterpillar. Notes: •\_The beads aren’t actually from Mardi Gras, nor did any of them come from New Orleans. In Tallahassee we have a spring time parade where all the paraders throw beads from the floats, a la mardi gras tradition. So these here are local beads, and therefore special. •\_I went to a birthday party that was for everyone who was having a birthday in the month of July. I was one of about six people. The caterpillars were handed out to the birthday people so we could be identified as such and therefore, fed more free drinks. There’s also a plastic Jesus action figure, with smooth easy glide walk-on-water wheels under his feet and posable arms. He’s my co-pilot, but he doesn’t hang out on the rear view. Mostly, he just floats around on the passenger seat, occasionally creating minor traffic miracles for me. [/tongue in cheek] ---
