Late dinner planned for tonight due to getting up very late. But I did get up in time to take the lamb chops out of the freezer, so Vindaloo lamb curry with rice tonight. By coincidence rather than planning I have some naan bread that will go well with it warmed in the toaster, and a nice Cabernet. Today is the last day of reasonable weather before the week-long heat wave hits, so a good time to prepare curry with the patio door wide open to air out the kitchen! ---

Taco salad in one of those big fried shells. It really needed some hot sauce and salsa and beans. I’ll add them when I eat the leftovers, although I’m not sure how well the shell will hold up. ---

Did a multi-course meal last night, as we were celebrating Kizzy’s excellent performance in an agility trial. I handled starters. I served Camembert cheese, sliced watermelon, and blueberries on the dock by our pond. A bottle of Sauvignon Blanc went well with this. When the wine bottle was empty, we relocated to the side porch where my gf served the Shrimp Curry she made. I opened a second bottle of wine. Vanilla ice cream with toasted pecans and chocolate syrup for dessert. ---

Last night I prepared one of my favorite French dishes, Moules Frites. My gf requested it and I was happy to comply. Sauvignon blanc to drink. My gf went full French, using mayonnaise for her fries. I Americanized and used Heinz ketchup. ---

My gf asked me to make stuffed eggplant, but there were no eggplant at the farm market. There were, however, some gorgeous green bell peppers. So, I stuffed those and served them with asparagus I charred in the air fryer. ---

Tonight we had BLTFs - bacon, lettuce, tomato and fish sandwiches. I usually make these with catfish, but the co-op had red snapper from the coast, so I fried that up instead. Served with coleslaw and grapes. A nice light Portuguese white wine to go with. ---

I luvs me some sandwiches and I’ve been living on them for the past two days along with some Cobb salad and Chicken Khao Soi coconut curry soup. A chicken sandwich which, when prepared _à la Wolfpup_ is better than any takeout chicken sandwich I’ve ever had; ham and salami and cheese sub with lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayo, and Dijon; hot roast beef sub with melted white cheddar and Dijon. Just for something completely different (and because the sandwiches are all gone) tonight will be butter chicken on basmati rice along with a glass or ten of “Conspiracy” from the local Foreign Affair winery. “Conspiracy” is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon prepared in the _ripasso_ style, where the wine is re-passed over the skins of high quality grapes from which the juice was previously extracted. _Ripasso_ adds intensity to the wine, and the amateur sommelier in me feels it will nicely match a spicy Indian dish. “Conspiracy” is, in any case, a wonderfully robust wine. ---

Tonight, no one wanted to cook, so I went and picked up Chick-fil-a. Damn, that’s still tasty fast food. Tomorrow will be grilled jalapeno and cheese sausages, with grilled onions and probably poblano peppers or jalapenos from our garden, depending on if my sweetie decides to pick up poblanos when she makes her grocery run (I’d go with her, but she doesn’t have the patience for me to wake up before she goes). ---

Too hot to cook, even with AC, so last night was potato salad, mac salad and cole slaw (the last 2 home-made.) The mac salad was my attempt at duplicating my mother’s recipe, which I cannot find at all in her recipe boxes. I came pretty durned close to my memories of it though, so it goes into the Win column. ---

There was enough butter chicken that tonight will be leftovers. And the “Conspiracy” Cabernet Franc + Sauvignon _ripasso_ was even better than I remembered. Must get more while it’s still on sale. ---

Orecchiette in a tomato and ground veal sauce. Sounds weird, but it works. The ground veal was meat my gf procured from a “humane source”. ---

Night before last I made Deviled Crab Cakes with fried corn and Remoulade sauce. I should say “we.” My husband doesn’t generally help me in the kitchen, but I put him on corn _and_ sauce duty and he did well! Of course, I did all the _mis en place_ for everything. I should have realized the recipe for crab cakes was for a shit ton! It said six servings (2 lbs of crab claw meat) but I think it was meant to say 2 containers - 8 oz each - instead. I settled for 3 containers. I would have used lump crab meat, but it’s around $16 ea vs $8.50 for the claw meat. Anyway - it all turned out pretty good but I like my crab cake recipe better. Mr Rebo saw someone make them on TV, so I attempted the recipe. The corn was very good, but the sauce is definitely a keeper. Mayo and mustard and hot sauce. Mmm! We ate leftover crab cakes in sandwich form for lunch, and no one was hungry for dinner so we had canned soup. ---
