What's fun in the Los Angeles area?

Many thanks to all of you! I am printing out a list of things mentioned in this thread, and I’m sure we’ll have a great time in LA!

One, I speak authoritatively when I tell you that she speaks the truth, particularly with the bolded part. And that is a high compliment to the pie, I assure you.

Second, if you truly like good food and the idea of visiting an LA institution, I may not forgive you if you don’t stop at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles.

I’ve got a question for those who are knowledgable about LA. Is the Los Angeles Zoo worth a visit? Hubby doesn’t want to go all the way to San Diego, but we do like zoos.

Worth a visit? Yes. Knock you over with a feather amazing like San Diego? No. On the other hand, Griffith Park itself (where the zoo is located) IS amazing. And the observatory is open to the public again. You can do all of those in a single day and make is a fairly great day trip.

Still if you can make it to San Diego, that zoo is something else. The Wild Animal Park is even better.

I have written many pages on the subject of “what to do in LA” on these boards.

Here are links to some posts from a recent thread that distill what I have said in the past.

On CA’s central coast. The most beautifull country in the world.

We also have some real gourmet restaurants if you are into that sort of thing. If you are let me know and I can put together a short list. Ford’s Filling Stationis the first to jump to mind. It’s in Culver City and is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in the country, not just the city.

It’s a good zoo but be prepared for a lot of walking. Even the walk from the parking to the entrance is a haul. It’s not a problem if you’re in decent shape, but if either of you have any trouble getting around it’s probably not your best choice.

There is absolutely nothing to do in LA. Haven’t you heard? We’re a cultural wasteland. :stuck_out_tongue:
