How come the boards are funky today? Sometimes I click and it takes forever to get the message: “This page unavailable.” Then I immediately click again and quite often the page comes up blazing fast. ---

It’s the [rude elevator guy](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=424410); he made it back to his desk and now wants to take over the internet. Is it just today? (3 “timed out” messages to open this thread; 5 “timed out” messages to edit.) I thought this had been happening for a while, but more and more lately. Sadly, I was waiting for someone else to pit this (and waiting to see if it was just my experience). ---

It’s not uncommon for the board to time out on me a dozen times a day. Morning, middle of the day, 3AM…doesn’t seem to matter. Hasn’t it pretty much always been like this? ---

The boards would go down-- and I mean no posting for more than a day-- at least twice a month. It took (not exaggerating) 5 or 6 minutes to open a thread. The general practice was to click a link and go to some other site for a while. Remember the double, triple quadruple posts (_trust the cgi. . ._)? Good times. Good times. ---
