Iran is trying to conquer Israel by giving Hezbollah rockets?

People, people, focus! Iran. I know it also has an I, but it’s not the same discussion as the other one you want to have.

So let’s discuss why a nation that as recently as a few days ago _took innocent American citizens hostage and is threatening to charge them with espionage and won’t let their own lawyer see them_ (gee, I wonder why none of you have responded to that?) deserves the benefit of the doubt?
Why a nation that has blocked the IAEA for years now including but not limited to denying them information and bulldozing location before the IAEA could view deserves the benefit of the doubt?
Tell us about why a nation which arms, finances, trains and gives save haven to genocidal racist terrorist groups, year after year, and gave aid, explosives training and safe have to AQ and only stopped because we might rubble them if they continued should be given the benefit of the doubt?
Tell us why a nation that’s attempted, several times now, to dominate neighboring nations in order to spread Khomenism deserves the benefit of the doubt?
Explain why a repressive dictatorial regime that murders its homosexuals and has greater regional ambitions deserves the benefit of the doubt?

Anybody able to do that without starting off by “But the evil US…” ?

Is “duh” a word? And I wouldn’t use conquer as much as destroy. I listed 3 cites of Iranian leaders calling for the destruction of Israel in post 29. There is nothing subtle about their position on the matter.

You posted a bunch of stuff where Iranian leaders called for the destruction of the Israeli regime. You’ll hear the same sort of rhetoric from the clerical establishments in Saudi etc. just it doesn’t make the papers over here for some reason. No Iranian leader has militarily threatened anybody else, what they have said is that they won’t attack any other country except when they’re attacked first. What are they going to threaten them with?

And a few rockets can’t destroy Israel, or conquer them. Hezbollah, peace be upon them, have kicked the IDF out of Lebanon twice now but don’t have any ability to do anything other than defend their territory and fire a few unguided rockets.

Facts just don’t work well with your narratives Dick. Most would think that means there’s something wrong with the narrative. For some reason, you don’t see the need to change your narrative or even address direct factual refutations of some truly glaring errors. It’s… interesting.

In any case, during the 2006 Hezbollah-Israel war, it was Hezbollah who asked for an unconditional ceasefire and Israel that stalled for one with conditions. It wasn’t until the UNSC authored a resolution to end the war that Lebanon and Hezbollah agreed, and Israel followed suit the next day. But of course since the facts don’t support your narrative of “kicking the IDF out”, they are properly not spoken of.
Along the same lines, you are simply inventing an alternate reality when you talk about the Iranian position on the Israeli “regime”. The quotes provided did not include that word. They talk about _Israel_ or, more specifically, stated that the _state of Israel itself, regardless of the regime in charge, should be eliminated._ Your rousing game of Let’s Pretend fits in well with your argument, but “Well, let’s just pretend that Iran said something totally different so that my narrative sounds better.” is hardly a persuasive factual argument.

Your claim that no Iranian leader has militarily threatened anybody else is, likewise, a purely invented fiction. Iran funded, organized and directed the attacks on the US military at the marine barracks bombing and the Khobar Towers bombing. Evidence proved that this went to the highest levels of the Iranian government. They currently fund, train, equip and shelter Hezbollah which has directly attacked Lebanese citizens and its government’s sovereignty itself. Likewise, your facile pose of ignorance is unbecoming. What will they threaten people with? How about gunning down opposition in Lebanon? How about launching rockets and mortars which kill and/or maim at worst or at ‘best’, force Israelis to huddle in bomb shelters and do significant economic damage?

I suppose, though, that it’s telling that you refer to an avowed group of virulently anti-Semitic, genocidal, imperialistic terrorists as a faction who should have peace. Come on now Dick, your argument has so far put rhetoric far and away before the truth. Don’t slip up now and lose even the rhetoric. You might as well say “The Klu Klux Klan, peace be upon them…” or “Al Quaeda, peace but upon them”. When discussing genocidal racist lunatics who deliberately target civilians and admit to wanting to ethnically cleanse a nation, it generally harms your rhetorical point if you voice support for 'em.

Just some free advice.

Israel said that they’d take all the territory in Lebanon up to the Litani river and then they’d dictate the terms of any peace settlement. They specifically said that they wouldn’t accept any UN intervention or control over any peace agreement. They failed to take the territory, were booted back where they came from by the mighty Hezbollah and the regime in Tel Aviv, down to a 3% approval rating and having Hassan Nasrallah, peace be upon him, eating their lunch, had to give in and beg the UN to give them a face-saving way out of the situation.

Iran haven’t militarily threatened anybody, unlike, say, the United States. They support various terrorist groups but like I said before, if you brutalise a nation for decades and end up with the most radical illiberal faction possible in charge, a faction that – Death to America! Death to Israel! – really _really_ hate you, and you continue inflicting misery on the country after they’ve booted you out, you have to expect them to fight back in any way possible.

Wow. For someone who admits that Iranian leaders have called for the destruction of Israel and and supported the terrorist organization Hezbullah with military weapons which they’ve used against Israel that’s an amazingly contradictory statement to make.

Hizbullah still preserves this principle, and when an Egyptian journalist visited me after the liberation and asked me if the destruction of Israel and the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem were Hizbullah’s goal, I replied: “That is the principal objective of Hizbullah, and it is no less sacred than our [ultimate] goal. The generation that lived through the creation of this entity is still alive. This generation watches documentaries and reads documents that show that the land conquered was called Palestine, not Israel.” We face an entity that conquered the land of another people, drove them out of their land, and committed horrendous massacres. As we see, this is an illegal state; it is a cancerous entity and the root of all the crises and wars and cannot be a factor in bringing about a true and just peace in this region. Therefore, we cannot acknowledge the existence of a state called Israel, not even far in the future, as some people have tried to suggest. Time does not cancel the legitimacy of the Palestinian claim. (Middle East Quarterly, Fall 2002).

]([Hassan Nasrallah: In His Own Words | CAMERA](http://www.camera.org/index.asp?x_context=7&x_issue=11&x_article=1158))

This is the man that Dick supports, and in whose service his argument trades in fiction and ignores facts. A man who proudly proclaims a virulent racist, murderous hatred of every Jew on the planet. A man who proudly supports the genocide and ethnic cleansing of an entire nation. A man who accepts no compromises and demands civilian-targeted murder and suicide from his own followers.

> [@Dick\_Dastardly](#):
>
> Iran haven’t militarily threatened anybody

Seriously, why do you repeat claims that have already been shown to be fictional? I’ve already detailed how Iran has not just military threatened, but engaged in the murder of hundreds of American soldiers as well as numerous civilians in Israel and Lebanon and attacks upon the very sovereignty of the legitimate government of Lebanon itself. Not only have you not disputed the facts of the matter, you’ve steadfastly ignored them while repeating the same fictions that have already been thoroughly debunked.

Why not even attempt to spin a yarn that at least acknowledges the facts?

> [@Dick\_Dastardly](#):
>
> Israel said that they’d take all the territory in Lebanon up to the Litani river

Fiction. It was never an operation to take territory, but to hurt Hezbollah and reduce their capability to attack Israel. Which, if you’ll try to remember, was the cause of the war. Ya, I know, facts. You’re busy praising a genocidal anti-semite (shocka!!!) but can’t manage to get the basic facts straight (double shocka!!!).

Hezbollah started the war by launching civilian-targeted rocket attacks in order to serve as a diversion while they invaded Israeli territory and captured Israeli soldiers. They captured these soldiers to trade for among others, Samir Kuntar. Kuntar is a man who proudly admitted to, among other things, murdering a four year old girl by bashing her skull in.

Of course, you praise Hezbollah for bravely resisting Israel’s attempts to stop them firing rockets at its civilians, and for trying to stop Israel from rescuing the soldiers taken hostage so it didn’t have to give a proud toddler-murderer back to the brave Hezbollah freedom fighters.
All in a day’s work Dick for the kind of argument you’re using, all in a day’s work.

> [@Dick\_Dastardly](#):
>
> were booted back where they came from

Nope, yet more fiction in the service of your narrative; a narrative which cannot survive in the disinfectant light of actual facts. Which, naturally, is why you ignore them and don’t change your story even when presented with the actual facts.
Which, although I know I’m wasting the energy, I’ll do yet again and provide you with the facts on the assumption that one of these times the truth will penetrate and will be incorporated into your yarns.

The Litani Offensive didn’t begin until 3 days before the UNSC imposed its ceasefire. In point of fact, the IDF was reluctant to put many boots on the ground precisely because it was not a war to seize and hold territory but to degrade Hezbollah’s capacity to attack Israeli civilians and to limit their ability to move their kidnapped prisoners so that they could be rescued. Again, in point of fact, IDF forces did reach the Litani. Additionally, Israel won the Battle of Wadi Saluki, the last significant engagement of the war and the last push before the UNSC resolution. The withdrawal itself was due to the UNSC resolution, not your fiction that Hezbollah, genocidal racists who you insist on praising, drove anybody out. Since, ya know, they didn’t.

But please don’t let facts get in the way of your rhetoric at this stage of the game.

> [@Dick\_Dastardly](#):
>
> and having Hassan Nasrallah, peace be upon him, eating their lunch, had to give in and beg the UN to give them a face-saving way out of the situation.

You are simply inventing whatever sounds good now as fast as you can type. The UNSC resolution was stalled, and it was stalled on Israel’s behalf. Its text was much closer to Israel’s demands than Hezbollahs. And you really should resist making such disgusting statements as supporting Nasrallah. Again, you show what your rationalizations and endless series of factual errors are really about when you talk about a genocidal anti-semite like that in proud terms. Seriously, get to praising the Klan or neo-Nazis of something, Hezbollah is soooo 2006.

I guess that at 30% they will declare themselves rulers of the universe.

So far I haven’t heard of any deaths. Pretty clever using paint ball guns because they can go back and fish out the people they were shooting at and arrest them.

And Hezbollah’s victory over the sorry IDF united the Lebanese nation like nothing had before. Even the President was a Hezbollah supporter.
