Their trucks have giant “$19.95 a day” signs on the sides. It’s only after you get in there that you find out that mileage is extra, and that if you drive it more than a few blocks, that $19.95 is really $50 or $60.
The U-Haul people ended up sending a person out to my house to replace both tires. The guy said that the tires were shot, and he didn’t blame us for not wanting to use the trailer.
Here in Dallas, my experience is that U-Haul always overbooks their trucks for local moves. The nice people at Ryder have a “crying corner” for the poor folks who had a U-Haul reservation but couldn’t get a truck. Ryder usually takes care of them.
Well, somebody had to say it. I used U-Haul last year on 3 occasions to move my family from SC to Hershey, and except for one major problem partially caused by my trying to reserve a 20-foot-long truck on a weekend, I had no major problems with them.
