Many foods are packed in edible oils, and many foods are also prepared with these oils. I can understand that a food packer wants to use an oil that is reasonably priced, so he will often buy olive oil, rapeseed oil, peanut oil, etc., as pricing dictates. On the container label, it just says “edible oil”- how do you know you are not getting a lethal dose of peanut oil (if you are allergic to peanuts)?

I’m looking at my wife’s container of fat-free, non-dairy coffee creamer, the most artificial food product I can think of. The label lists:

> [@](#):
>
> **Ingredients:** Corn Syrup Solids, Vegetable Oil (Partially Hydrogenated Coconut or Palm Kernel, Hydrogenated Soybean). . .

So my label lists a choice of oils the product may be made from. Are you saying your label only says “edible oils” with no further identification?
