I recommend buying one of the travel toiletry kits. LLBean sells them.
They are great for keeping your shampoo, deodorant, soap, etc all together and organized. It also hangs so that everything is accessable. I have one, in which I keep an extra set of all my bathroom stuff. It’s great for the gym, but it’s also useful when I travel. I just bring it along and I know I have all the toiletries that I need without having to pack my whole bathroom up.
So, my gym bag has:
Toiletry kit
Shorts
T-Shirt
White socks
Boxer shorts
Sneakers
In my gym bag:
[ul][li] gym shorts[/li][li] t-shirt[/li][li] sneakers[/li][li] weightlifting gloves[/li][li] small towel for weight room[/li][li] regular towel for shower[/li][li] toiletry bag containing: shampoo, gel soap, deodorant, styling putty (I’m so vain), hairbrush[/li][li] portable CD player[/li][li] water bottle[/li][li] combination lock [/ul][/li]
Works for me.
Styling putty is kind of like spackle for your hair. Usually comes in a little pot with a lid, and is made up of a thick water based gel with lots of adhesive added. Kenra makes a really yummy smelling one.
On master-class days, 1x week, when I’m probably going to be fighting, a big duffel bag containing:
helmet
mouth guard
chest protector
fingerless gloves
shin guards
foot protector booties (there is no good intimidating name for those)
gi top and bottom
under-gi tanktop
belt (red)
hairbrush
pony band
water bottle(s)
roll of paper towels (for drying off sweaty gear (and sometimes self!) post-class
I’m the idiot child of master class, so I tend not to be ordered to really fight full-on yet, but I want to be fully padded if I need it. My parents paid a lot of money for my teeth, so I prefer to keep them in their current conformation :D.
My main class, 3x week, where I’ve trained since white belt, a plastic grocery bag with:
gi top and bottom
under-gi tanktop (when I’m not planning on pinning the gi shut to save myself a layer - the dojang’s on a high floor, no air conditioning (or heat, for that matter), no windows, directly under the roof, so in the summer, it starts over 90-100 degrees in there, and we work pretty hard.)
belt
maybe a hairbrush, usually not
I always feel slightly silly carrying the duffel bag - it’s pretty big and intimidating looking, and I’m neither. And people are always surprised to see demure, skirt-wearing me with it, although it’s also kind of fun to screw with their heads a bit.
