j & I have a new dog, and really don’t like the name he came with. New start, new name. What’s the best dog name you have for a border collie? :rolleyes: Pretty please don’t say “Bandit.”:rolleyes: We seriously need a good name, here. He’s going to have it a while. Thanks!!! ---

Blackjack is part border collie, we assume. His name comes from having one ear up, and one down. Does he have any distinctive physical characteristics? ---

When I get my next dog, I’ve already got a name picked out. A little while back, I started picking up some Russian. The first two words I learned were dog (“sobaka”) and cat (“koshka”). One of my cats got the middle name of Kushka, and I’m saving an anglicized version for the dog. I don’t mind loaning out a name, so go throw a Frisbee to “Shep.” Tripler I do not recommend naming the dog “Indiana.” ---

Does he have that black/white “dirty” coat? Some of him looks almost gray? If so, I think “SAM” I overnamed my dog and tended to call her “dog.” You could name him SAMWISE and call him SAM. But that’s a bit of a LOTR thing. ---

1. Against my better judgment, we picked out a name for the current dog first - it so doesn’t fit him & therefore he’s had to be renamed, which is a hassle with the vet/kennel. The rule is that the first 48-72 hours he’s just ‘dog’ until his personality shows/ he does something & then that becomes his name. My friend’s dog stole & ate a few slices his first night & therefore, became “Pizza”! 2. “Brawler” - to go with that black eye. 😃 ---
