Mustard is it. When I got braces way back when, I couldn’t eat mustard because it would stain the little bands. I was shorn of one of my staple foods. I tried ketchup, but it just wasn’t happening. ---

I just got out of bed and the coffee isn’t done yet. I’m too lazy to get the dictionary. Is it “w **ei** ner”; or “w **ie** ner”? I always thought it was IE, as in “Wien” (Vienna), where wienerwurst was made? ---

If it’s a Hebrew National, Gulden’s Spicy Brown Mustard, sometimes with chopped onions. If it’s whatever type of hotdog they have at Fenway, with the super-soft bun that’s been steamed within an inch of it’s life while the vendor drags it up to the top of the bleacher seats, whatever mustard they pass out with it - I think it’s Gulden’s, but I can’t swear to it. Plain if they forget to pass mustard. The vendors don’t carry any other condiments. If it’s anything but those two varieties, I usually pass, or smother it in whatever is available to cover up the taste of the dog. Ick. Chili dogs are good, but I have to agree with Ukulele Ike that the chili overpowers the dog, so the variety of dog under the chili doesn’t matter that much to me, though I never have anything but Hebrew Nationals at home. ---

In the backyard its gotta be Grey Poupon and chopped onion. If I’m at a hot dog joint that has all the fixin’s I usually go for chili and saurkraut. ---
