Waffle House and the Indian-owned c-stores are open here. That’s it, as far as I can tell, but I didn’t drive by the movie theater.

Kwik Trip gas stations are open as well as the China Buffet and Walgreen’s. All of the fast food chains are closed along with the chain stores. Of course all of the local bars are open. It wouldn’t be Wisconsin otherwise!

Driving around town, lloks like Walgreens and Burger King are it. I drove through to get lunch at BG and the muzak was playing “Blue Christmas”, highlighting how sad it was for those of us waiting to pull up and get our yummy Whoppers.

Actually, I was quite suprised to see a number of families going in and out - this was about 1pm. I though it would mostly be a few lonely individuals like myself, but nope, I saw 3 families with kids go in or come out while I was waiting. I thought everyone in Central Iowa celebrated family Christmases by law.
