This was hard. I’ve done most common things I can think of. How about: Never been confirmed, bar mitzvahed, or otherwise become a member of any religious organization. I’ve never prayed. Never heard my father say “I love you” (to me or anyone else) ---

I have never been to any kind of religious service other than for funerals or weddings. ---

So is this like a game of “never have I ever”? Do those of us who have done these things need to take a drink? Actually, come to think of it I’ve never played “never have I ever”, so that probably counts for this thread. I never went to my high school prom. I’ve never been married. ---

Never seen E.T, Star Wars, any of the Godfather movies. I’ve never eaten sushi. I had hepatitis A once and that was enough to put me off. Never been west of the Mississippi (though I have lived in Rome and North Africa). ---

Never watched a hardcore pornographic movie. If I were to do so, I am certain I would be laughing and/or rolling my eyes at the contrived nature of the tryst in question and the overacting histrionics involved, and not turned on at all. ---

I grew up in the tail end of the “tonsillectomy as a routine childhood rite of passage” era. Never had mine out, or my appendix either. As for running out of gas, modern gas gauges make that less likely, but oh, yes, I remember the E/1/2/F dial. ETA: I did have my wisdom teeth removed when I was 21. I heard all the horror stories, and experienced none of them, thankfully. ---

Never owned a car. Never broken a bone. Never travelled to the Northern Hemisphere. Never been married. Never owned a pet. Never smoked or done drugs (barely even had prescribed drugs, unless you count painkillers). There are lots of foods I’ve never eaten too. I’m sure there are many more, as I am not an adventurous person. ---

I have never been under genersl anesthetic for any kind of medical procedure (have had some things done under local). I do not think I have even been in a medical facility for more than 12 hours (well, there was that thing with the funny farm, but it was not quite the same as a medical facility). ---

I’ve never smoked or done any kind of drugs. Even in Cambridge in the ‘60s - ‘70s. Never saw either _Titanic_ or _It’s a Wonderful Life_. Never got divorced. Never ran out of gas either. Never got a traffic ticket in California though I’ve been here almost 30 years. At this point, when a cop stops me, they look up my record and say “I’m not going to be the first” and let me go. Never got stopped for anything blatant, though. ---

I’ve never been asked to be a best man or a groomsman in someone’s wedding (I did once get asked to be an usher, but I didn’t want to spend the money for the special tuxedo they wanted all the guys in the wedding party to wear, so I declined). Also, I’ve never been to an honest-to-goodness bachelor party.
