For all the people that have never seen [very popular movie], I hope you’re not treating it in your minds like some kind of badge of honor. Because, like, it’s two hours of your life (3 1/2 for _Titanic_ 🙂 ). If everybody says a movie is great, maybe you should try it. What’s the worse that could happen? You don’t like it. But then, you’re no longer “special”. And as for _Top Gun_, I like watching the planes, so I shut my mind off for the plot. But there are a lot of gay guys out there, so for them “homoerotic techno-mil porn” might be a selling point, and they wear out the VHS tape at the volleyball scene. And you know what? Someone that can say that about a film has actually watched it, and formed their own opinion. As for the OP, having kids. Never had then, don’t want them, very happy to marry someone that feels the same way. ---

Oh, lots and lots of things. Not even going to try to list them all. But mostly I haven’t seen movies or watched television shows (though many years ago I watched a triple bill of xxx movies and yes we laughed through a lot of it.) I’ve never broken a bone, I’ve never been married, i’ve never ridden a rollercoaster let alone anything wilder, I’ve never had an account on Facebook or xitter, I’ve never had a child. I have done a lot of things some posting in this thread haven’t, though; as well as a number of things no longer common, though some of them used to be. ---

Oh, yeah, me too. Never had a cavity. Nor a cavity search. (I had a dentist friend who used to call the first look into a patient’s mouth a ‘cavity search’. Such an odd sense of humor. Probably why we were friends.) ---

I’ve never been to a funeral. Altho I lived 18 years in the SF Bay Area, I’ve never visited Alcatraz. I’d like to list other things I haven’t had happen, but I am concerned doing so would bring them to be. ---

I have never changed a diaper. Not because I refused or would refuse, it’s just never come up. Now that I’m 52, I have a strange desire to see that I never do. ---

I’ve also never broken a bone. I’ve never earned a speeding ticket (but I have received a few parking tickets). I’ve never watched 99% of the Hollywood movies or TV shows that make up much of our popular culture. I’ve never done drugs of any kind. I’ve never had an ex-partner/SO. I’ve never been east of the Mississippi River. I did not go to middle school or high school and do not have a high school diploma. But I do have a master’s degree. I’ve never eaten a Sloppy Joe sandwich and, God willing, never will. ---

Word. A friend of mine would feed her kids Nutella and state how healthy it is. It’s essentially feeding them chocolate frosting, without the cake. Should be called Choc-tella. Now, hazelnut butter, in the style of peanut butter, that would be something I would like to try. ---

Yeah, Nutella’s far more candy-like than peanut butter. I’d describe it as not quite savory, but not quite sweet either. It’s one of those ingredients that can go either way, depending on how it’s used. ---

Likewise, I have never been a bridesmaid, or attended a bachelorette party. My friends or relatives who got married, almost to a person, had small weddings, had parents who stood up for them (my brother and his wife) or came from large families. This doesn’t bother me, because in many cases, friendships don’t survive the whole bridesmaid thing, especially if she’s a Bridezilla. While we’re on the subject, I’ve never married, and don’t have any children either. ---

One thing I have never tried is boiled peanuts. I guess they are popular in the American South, but the thought of eating little rubbery peanuts never appealed to me. Also, I have heard of these Easter things called “Peeps”, but have never so much as seen them, except in photos. ---

I’ve also never broken a bone. I’ve probably never had COVID. A better way to put it is I’ve never tested positive for COVID. If I’ve had it, it was a mild case that went unnoticed. I’ve never been to Las Vegas, nor do I have any desire to go. Come to think of it, I’ve never been inside a casino. I’ve never smoked a cigarette, although I have smoked like two cigars in my life. I have never attended a funeral. I’ve never seen _Schindler’s List_. It feels like an “important” movie that I really should watch some day, but when it came out my parents thought I was too young to see it, and as an adult I’ve never been in the mood to watch such a serious film. I’m sure there are lots of popular TV shows and movies I’ve never seen; no one has time to watch everything. But for one that might shock members of this board, as far as I can recall I’ve never watched an episode of _M.A.S.H._ I’m sure I’ve seen clips here and there, but I’ve never sat down and watched an entire episode. ---

I have never seen a _Halloween_ or _Friday the 13th_ or _Nightmare on Elm St_ movie (well, maybe a two or three minute fragment of one of the last one). Never saw _It_ or _Carrie_ or _Pet Sematery_ or _Cujo_, though I did see too much of _Children of the Corn_ – S. King has done some very good non-horror, like _Green Mile_ and _Shawshank_, but horror, zombie and vampire stuff just does not appeal to me, especially when they feel compelled to make the violence unsubtle. The most terrifying movie I have seen was Hitchcock’s _The Wrong Man_. ---
