So did you start arguments sometimes just so you would have sex later?

I’m the same way. Regardless of how long the drive is, my bladder knows exactly how long it’ll take to get home.

For me, a big turn-on is the smell of oil paints. Brings me back to happy days in art school. I haven’t done oils in years, but sometimes I just unscrew a few tubes and inhale.

> It’s not my Pavlovian reaction, but I have to tell this. My roommate in college was taught about the Pavlovian reaction by a demonstration. The teacher had them eat a sour candy every time he said the word Pavlov. Eventually, the word Pavlov would make them salivate.
>
> I find that just remembering that story makes me salivate every time someone mentions Pavlov. I’m not sure what type of reaction that is. It’s not quite learned, I don’t think, as I was never taught. It’s just the memory of the story associated Pavlov with salivating.

It’s kind of a second-hand response. Back before cat food cans had pull-tops, I opened them with an electric can-opener. So whenever I opened a can, the cat came running. Then they switched to pull-tab lids. Sometime later I got a kitten. The kitten never associated the can opener with food, but he saw the older cat respond to the can opener. Soon he did too.

Rain, or, rather, being rained ON.

Don’t know why, but it acts on my mood faster than conscious awareness. I was tromping around on business through the falling snow, dressed warmly enough, everything was beautiful, almost deliriously cheerful mood (I like snow). Then abruptly my mood shifted, the cheer felt forced, phony; felt tired, disappointed, depressed, worried as if something bad were happening and me powerless to avoid it. THEN—as I was doing an internal WTF, contemplating this sudden mood-shift—I realized the falling snow was turning to slushy rain.

No, the arguments were real but sometimes we would fake apologize so we could have sex. And then as soon as we were done, we’d go right back to arguing about that thing we just apologized for.
Looking back, it’s actually kind of funny.
