If someone claimed that they got lost in the Shenandoah Valley and came upon a small farm town where everyone else was riding around in horse and buggy, I would likely believe them. I’ve been there. ---

One person dreaming or hallucinating would explain a lot of stories. Four people is a deliberate hoax, if it’s really four people. Often there’s one person telling the story and claiming companions were there as well. But if all four make the claim it’s totally fabricated.
