I get on a Corn Nut kick every once in a while. They’re yummy and crunchy. I’ve never noted the smell to be adverse. However, if they ever came out with a mayonnaise flavored variety…ugh! Talk about a bad smell! ---

Corn nuts was an attempt by the hominy industry to get rid of that nasty earwax they’ve been pushing on little kids all these years. They take the leftovers every year, fry it up and salt it down real good to prevent spoilage and disguise the taste. They HAD to change the name. I mean think about it. You’d have to be NUTS to buy fried hominy now wouldn’t ya? Actually, the stuff’s not too bad when you’ve not eaten all day and you’re working on your second six-pack… 😃 ---

Beer nuts are little peanuts with a coating on them. They are no harded that normal peanuts. Corn nuts are deep fried big pieces of corn. There are as hard as gravel. People do crack their teeth on them. Haj ---

Hey **Haj &Phil** I know about corn nuts…hell yeah they’re harder n peanut brittle. I just wasn’t up on what a beer nut was. I’ve got a friend who eats corn nuts & drinks beer. I’ve seen him put the damned things in his beer. Like we did as kids with peanuts and sodas, maybe that’s a southern thing, I dunno. Speaking of peanut brittle, my old lady made some one time…I swear it was like trying to eat glass. So damned hard and brittle it scared you. Thinking about a shiv in the roof of your mouth or between the teeth. :shudder: So is the OP answered? 😉 ---

Could be my sense of smell is worse than most other folks, because I never noticed anything especially egregious about the smell of Cool Ranch Doritos, either (although the taste certainly is an abomination). My mom, on the other hand, has a nose that could detect two molecules of cologne at 100 yards. Maybe I’ll make her take a sniff test. 😉 Now, if you really want to talk disgusting smells… try [squid chips](http://indo.to/english/rie/34.htm) (no. 3 down the page). One of my profs was fond of munching on these during class; in the end, we sent him an anonymous plea to keep the squid chips in his office, because people in the front row were getting nauseated by the aroma. And for the record, I hate Circus Peanuts.🙂 ---
