Nope. Mayor is a wee bit off-base with his reference to c.~1900. AAMOF, I believe it was 1906-7 when it happened, but it was a “'round the world” phenomenon. I used to have a book that gave the history of that “outpouring”, but a “friend” borrowed it - and then told me shortly thereafter that she would NOT be returning it!! As I can best recall (It’s been 30+ years!), the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles was NOT the first of these events. In any case, the history is generally available, for someone who cares enough to research it. In India, the first reported case was at a girls’ school. But in addition to other locations in India, there were also reports from China, England, and several European countries.
OTOH, his reference to other historical occurrences was pretty good. The Montanist movement lasted several centuries, though it was what you might call a “fringe” group.
