# What's the deal with the random letters in the movie spam?

I can’t point to an example because they all get deleted. But I’m assuming most people have seen them.

There’ll be a spam thread with a title like _Watch Guardians of the Galaxy online for free kp6rw_.

So what’s the deal with that short sequence of random characters at the end?

Most likely, filters might pick up the movie title and the random letters/numbers are to get around that.

Software is set up to catch duplicate posts–so duplicate spam posts can get around this with the random letters.

Why do you say the spam is being deleted: Barnhouse is full of it.

Gone now.

Barnhouse doesn’t get the attention that other forums do. The spam there isn’t acted upon as quickly. Seven users posting spam since about 3PM this afternoon. Not too bad.
