One of those 1980s soap operas. I can’t remember which one.

Cite? You may have her confused with Morgan Brittany, AKA: Suzanne Cupito, who also wasn’t in TOS, but broke my little heart in Twilight Zone and, especially, Outer Limits.

One of the basic cable channels (CMT?) plays \*A League of Their Own \*a lot. I’ve been known to tune in right when I know the supremely sarcastic baseball scout that Lovitz played will be onscreen:

> [@](#):

> Ernie Capadino: I’m Ernie Capadino. I’m a baseball scout. I saw you playing today. Not bad, not bad. You ever heard of Walter Harvey, makes Harvey bars - you know, the candy?
> Dottie Hinson: Yeah. We feed them to the cows when they’re constipated.
> Ernie Capadino: That’s the guy. He’s starting a girls’ baseball league, so he can make a buck while the boys are overseas. Wanna play?
> Dottie Hinson: Huh?
> Ernie Capadino: Nice retort. Tryouts are in Chicago. It’s a real league, professional.
> Kit Keller: Professional - baseball?
> Ernie Capadino: Mmm-hmm. They’ll pay you 75 dollars a week.
> Kit Keller: We only make 30 at the dairy.
> Ernie Capadino: Well then, this would be more, wouldn’t it?

Classic.
eta: I guess the first thing I thought of at the sight of the name “Morgan Fairchild” was the Old Navy commercials.

> You know, when I was listening to the radio interview, they were talking about her involvement in supporting AIDS research, which goes back to the days when the disease first became widely known, and she was talking about how research into infectious diseases is sort of a hobby of hers… and it was just really surprising how knowledgeable she was on the subject!

I watched an interview with her probably 20 years ago in which she discussed this very thing. IIRC, she had an unfulfilled desire to go to medical school.

And it was the third thing I thought of when I saw the thread title. The first was the Jon Lovitz routine & the second was how incredibly hot she was & still is.

Looking at her Wikipedia page, she has been working consistently in TV & movies so my fourth thought “I haven’t seen her in years” just means that I haven’t been looking in the right places.

She wasn’t the butt of the joke at all. In fact, she did find it rather flattering. She even appeared as a guest on SNL and participated in the “Patholigical Liar” sketch in that episode.

In a very weird way, she had the “hot older woman” thing going on before she was old enough to be categorized with older women. It’s hard for me to describe. In her 80s heyday, she was only in her 30s but she comes across as a woman in her 40s . . . who looks really hot _for a woman in her 40s_.

[She’s 35 years old in _Pee-wee’s Big Adventure_](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CQvLsAP8L3M/Torg36AXt9I/AAAAAAAAIk8/BCQi9ihs_dk/s1600/PeeweesBigAdven_184Pyxurz.jpg), but I swear I watch her in that movie and think to myself “Damn, that 47 year old woman looks great! She looks like she’s only in her mid-30s! That is so hot!”

Of course she really was in her mid-30s, so she _should_ have looked like she was in her mid-30s, but I give her _extra_ credit for looking like she’s in her mid-30s because she _seems like_ she’s in her mid-40s.

Does this make any sense to anyone besides me?
Mary Steenburgen always had the same kind of thing going on: “hot older woman” when she was actually a young woman. Of course, both women very handily eased into being hot older women once they actually became older women- they had had years of practice.

Yes, she wasn’t the butt of the joke. I’d like to point out, however, that just because she appeared on SNL and participated in the skit doesn’t prove anything either way. Many people went on SNL and made fun of themselves. My favorite example of this is Derek Jeter in the skit Yankee wives where he (dressed as a woman) utters the line “Derek Jeter looks like The Rock had sex with a Muppet.”

OK, in the interest of honesty (isn’t that ironic?), I have to confess I got it wrong. Fairchild didn’t appear with Lovitz at all. I got her crossed in my mind with Jerry Hall, ex-lover of Mick Jagger. Hall was guest hosting SNL in 1985, when, according to [Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recurring_Saturday_Night_Live_characters_and_sketches_introduced_1985%E2%80%931986#Tommy_Flanagan.2C_the_Pathological_Liar):

> [@](#):

> One of his biggest lies, however, would work to his great advantage. During the cold opening when Jerry Hall hosted, Flanagan claimed to be an old friend of her then-boyfriend Mick Jagger; when Jagger entered moments later, he shocked her by revealing that the two were longtime friends, and had actually spent the previous weekend together, while she had no idea of his whereabouts, on a fishing trip. As he and Hall got up to leave, Jagger told Flanagan, “I owe you for this one”, before opening the show.

So, what can I say? I’m wiped out from the wild sex Morgan Fairchild and I had this weekend. Yeaaaah. That’s the ticket! 😃
